... Although the precise mechanism of dinitroanilines on ploidy level alteration has not been exactly determined, the molecular structural modeling has suggested that the dinitroaniline molecules bind selectively to the plants' α-tubulin consensus binding sites, form dinitroanilinetubulin dimers, and thus disrupt protofilament interactions within the microtubule (Morrissette et al. 2004;Morrissette and Sept 2008). According to our results, low doses of trifluralin (10-50 mg l −1 ) proved to be beneficial for tetraploid production and the similar results were also observed in Matricaria chamomilla L., in which the highest rate of polyploidy induction along with the lowest percentage of abnormality was obtained with 10 mg l −1 trifluralin for 48-72 h (Karami et al. 2019). In other species such as R. chinensis minima, however, higher concentrations (80-800 mg l −1 ) were considered to be favorable for polyploidization (Zlesak et al., 2005), indicating the species-dependent mode of trifluralin behavior. ...
