... The notion of ἐνέργεια in Aristotelian philosophy has always represented the object of a broader debate among scholars. For example, some scholars (e.g., Burnyeat 2008;Menn 1994) supposed that, in his first inquiry, Aristotle conceived ἐνέργεια in connection to movement and only later formulated the ontological sense of actuality. If this is true, then one can suppose that the Stoics share the same kinetic conception of ἐνέργεια with the 'young' Aristotle. ...
