The spider genus Sphingius Thorell, 1890, with four Chinese species, is reviewed. Among these, Sphingius hainan sp. nov. and S. zhangi sp. nov. are new to science. In addition, Scotophaeoides sinensis Schenkel, 1963, the type species of Scotophaeoides Schenkel, 1963 (Gnaphosidae), is transferred to Sphingius (Liocranidae), thus Sphingius is a senior synonym of Scotophaeoides. The species Sphingius pingtung Tso, Zhang, Zhu & Zhang, 2005 is redescribed and illustrated. A distribution map of Chinese Sphingius is provided.

Drassodes digitusiformis (Hu, 2001) is transferred to Trachelas, as a junior synonym of Trachelas alticolus Hu, 2001. Trachelas acuminus (Zhu et An, 1988), T. japonicus Bösenberg et Strand, 1906 and T. sinensis Chen, Peng et Zhao, 1995 are redescribed and illustrated. A key and a distribution map of Chinese Trachelas are provided.

Six species, including two new species, of the spider genus Plator Simon 1880 belonging to the family Trochanteriidae from China are reviewed, which are Plator bowo sp. nov., P. insolens Simon 1880, P. pandeae Tikader 1969, P. pennatus Platnick, 1976, P. sinicus Zhu & Wang 1963 (revalidated) and P. yunlong sp. nov. The male of P. pennatus is described for the first time. Two species groups, Plator insolens group (including P. insolens, P. sinicus and the Japanese species P. nipponicus Kishida 1914) and Plator pennatus group (including P. bowo sp. nov., P. insolens, P. pandeae, P. pennatus and an Indian species, P. indicus Simon 1897) are recognized.

... A total of 64 samples from 28 batches have been collected from field surveys or market commodity in China since 2015. All samples were identified into five nominal species according to characteristics recorded by Siriwut et al. [1], Kang et al. [2], Song et al. [18], and Zhang and Wang [19]. e sample information is summarized in Table 1. ...

... Remarks. According to Attems (1930) and Chao (2002), tergites 5-20 have two complete paramedian sutures, but Song et al. (2004) reported these sutures at tergites 4-21 and oblique sutures in the anterior corners of tergites 3-4. The recently studied specimens have complete paramedian sutures at tergites 8-18 (Fig. 2C). ...

... Eight species have been recorded in China (Lewis 2003;Song et al. 2005;Niu et al. 2021), all assigned to the subgenus Otostigmus. These species belong to four of the nine groups mentioned by Lewis (2010): ...

... Its southern region, the Himalaya, exhibits a pronounced vertical stratification of ecosystems and is recognized as a biodiversity hotspot for the study of animal taxonomy as well as biological evolution (Cai et al. 2018;Li et al. 2022). A century ago, seventeen centipede species have been documented in Xizang, comprising eight species of Scolopendromorpha and seven species of Lithobiomorpha (Lewis 2010;Song et al. 2010;Ma et al. 2014;Qiao et al. 2019;Niu et al. 2021;Chen et al. 2023). However, understanding of the soil centipede species diversity in Xizang remains quite limited. ...

... Tanikawa (2000) placed four Japanese orb-weaving spider species, three of which were previously listed in Zilla C.L. Koch, 1834, into Eriophora Simon, 1864, after he added these species to Scharff & Coddington's (1997) comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of orbweaving spiders. This generic placement was later adopted for Chinese and Taiwanese species of similar morphology (Chang & Tso, 2004;Zhang, Zhu & Song, 2006). However, Tanikawa (2000) had already noted considerable differences in genital morphology and eye pattern between the Asian and true Eriophora. ...

... Currently, more than 85 species of ground spiders from 15 genera have been recorded in Mongolia (World Spider Catalog 2022). Gnaphosids are distributed throughout the most of the drylands on earth, but their diversity is higher within temperate zone (Zhang & Zhu 2008). Among gnaphosids, Coreodrassus Paik 1984 is a small, Central and East Asian genus, currently comprising only four described species (World Spider Catalog 2022). ...
