The spider genus Sphingius Thorell, 1890, with four Chinese species, is reviewed. Among these, Sphingius hainan sp. nov. and S. zhangi sp. nov. are new to science. In addition, Scotophaeoides sinensis Schenkel, 1963, the type species of Scotophaeoides Schenkel, 1963 (Gnaphosidae), is transferred to Sphingius (Liocranidae), thus Sphingius is a senior synonym of Scotophaeoides. The species Sphingius pingtung Tso, Zhang, Zhu & Zhang, 2005 is redescribed and illustrated. A distribution map of Chinese Sphingius is provided.

Six species of the genus Trachelas from China are reviewed, with descriptions of two new species: Trachelas fanjingshan sp. nov. and T. fasciae sp. nov. Drassodes digitusiformis (Hu, 2001) is transferred to Trachelas, as a junior synonym of Trachelas alticolus Hu, 2001. Trachelas acuminus (Zhu et An, 1988), T. japonicus Bösenberg et Strand, 1906 and T. sinensis Chen, Peng et Zhao, 1995 are redescribed and illustrated. A key and a distribution map of Chinese Trachelas are provided.

... A total of 64 samples from 28 batches have been collected from field surveys or market commodity in China since 2015. All samples were identified into five nominal species according to characteristics recorded by Siriwut et al. [1], Kang et al. [2], Song et al. [18], and Zhang and Wang [19]. e sample information is summarized in Table 1. ...

Koch, 1834, into Eriophora Simon, 1864, after he added these species to Scharff & Coddington's (1997) comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of orbweaving spiders. This generic placement was later adopted for Chinese and Taiwanese species of similar morphology (Chang & Tso, 2004;Zhang, Zhu & Song, 2006). However, Tanikawa (2000) had already noted considerable differences in genital morphology and eye pattern between the Asian and true Eriophora. ...
