Дослідження власних назв, представлених у стилі масової комунікації, реалізує виявлення як загальних тенденцій розвитку національної літературної мови, так і специфічних, властивих масмедійному мовленню. У роботі проаналізовано специфіку конотативних апропонімів у сучасному українському медіапросторі, на конкретних зразках визначено їхні характерні ознаки, особливості творення й використання. Актуальність роботи визначена, з одного боку, потребою системного аналізу сучасного медійного мовлення, з іншого – потребою доповнення та увиразнення теоретичних відомостей щодо конотонімії як універсального явища. Конотація як процес набування власними назвами нових значень – явище, особливо поширене серед антропонімів, передусім особових імен та поетонімів. За механізмом утворення конотативного значення виділено вмотивовані та невмотивовані власні назви, що утворюються на основі метафори, метонімії, перифразу. Зроблено висновок про узуальний характер і значну поширеність міжмовних конотонімів у сучасних українських медіатекстах. Як основну ознаку конотативних топонімів визначено їхню здатність інтенсифікувати значення, тобто підкреслювати конкретну сему із загального значення власної назви.
