Library Hi Tech
The vendor literature about a computerized system typically details an extensive list of functions that the system can perform. However, it is difficult to discern from the literature (or from a Request for Proposals or a superficial demonstration) whether a system accomplishes these functions elegantly—that is, in a streamlined, effective manner. Persons involved with actual library functions should experiment with a system being considered for purchase to determine whether that system is elegant.
