A conceptual design of news melting reduction process for hot metal production has been studied. The maximum energy recovery principle instead of post-combustion in smelting reduction furnace was used. Furthermore, an integrated plant of metallurgical and chemical processes has been proposed by assembling smelting reduction furnace with gasoline synthesis unit together. A pre-reduction reactor with multistage fluidized moving bed and a flash smelting reduction of furnace has been designed. By this assembly process, a series of problems in the current smelting reduction processes for iron and gasoline synthesis process from coal can be solved.

Recent development of supported ceramic (asymmetric) compo site membranes is reviewed Membranes are classified into five kinds according to the microstructure and phase nature of the layers: (1) asymmetric membranes with single inorganic phase layer, (2) asymmetric membranes with inorganic compo site phase layer, (3) asymmetric membranes with organic phase layer, (4) asymmetric membranes with organic/ inorganic mixing phase layer, (5) asymmetric membranes with organic/inorganic hybrid layer. Based on our classification, every kind of composite membranes is addressed with particular emphasis on the organic/inorganic hybrid membranes.
