Five flavonoids, four feruloyl amide derivatives, pinoresinol, lanost-9-en-3β-ol and three steroids from the leaves of Dracaena cochinchinensis (Lour.) S. C. Chen. Of these, compound 4 was identified as a new homoisoflavanone. This publication is the first reported purification of compounds 3, 4, 6- 12 from D. cochinchinensis. We also indicate the chemotaxonomic importance of these metabolites.

This paper reports the isolation and characterization of seven piceatannol derivatives (1-7), including two new compounds (4 and 6), along with resveratrol (8) and polydatin (9), from the underground parts of Rheum austral D. Don collected from Tibet. The structures of the isolates were identified based on analysis of their spectroscopic data and comparison with literature. Compounds 3-7, piceatannol-4′-O-glucopyranoside and its 6″-O-acylated derivatives reported in this study may be useful chemotaxonomic markers for R. austral collected from Tibet.

Protective Effects of Xinmailong on Endothelial Cells Functions

Cockroach has been utilized traditionally in China for the cure of cardiovascular disorders, such as circulatory disturbances. The present study was aimed to assess the vascular function of Xinmailong Injection (XML), a bioactive composite extracted from dried American cockroach. Effects of XML on Endothelial Cells Functions. The experiment will use NO kit and ET-1 kit of Xinmailong on endothelial cells

Two new resveratrol trimer derivatives, named rheumlhasol A (1) and rheumlhasol B (2) were isolated from the methanolic extract of roots of Rheum lhasaense A. J. Li et P. K. Hsiao together with four known resveratrol dimer derivatives, including maximol A (3), gnetin C (4), ε-viniferin (5), and pallidol (6). The structures were determined by combined spectroscopic methods and by comparison of their spectral data with those reported in the literature. All the compounds isolated from R. lhasaense were tested for their ability to scavenge1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical.

A new flavonoid, feddeinoid A was isolated from the leaves and stems of daphne feddei. Its structure was determined by means of HRESIMS, extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies and chemical evidence. Feddeinoid A was also tested for their anti-HIV-1 activities. The results showed that feddeinoid A has modest anti-HIV-1 activities.

A new method for the determination of palladium and platinum ions using high performance liquid chromatography equipped with online solid phase extraction was developed. The palladium and platinum ions were derivatized with 2-(2-quinolinylazo)-1,3-diaminobenzene (QADAB) to form coloured chelate. The Pd-QADAB and Pt-QADAB chelates were then enriched on an enrichment column using a 0.05 mol L -1 of phosphoric acid as mobile phase. After the enrichment was completed, the retained chelates were back-flushed to the analytical column. The separation of chelates on the analytical column [CQUITY UPLC BEH C 18 (1.7 μm 4.6 × 50 mm)] was satisfactory when 40 % acetonitrile (containing 0.05 mol L -1 of phosphoric acid and 0.1 % of triton X-100) was used as mobile phase. The Pt-QADAB and Pd-QADAB chelates were separated completely within 2.5 min. The detection limits (S/N = 3) for palladium and platinum were 1.0 ng L -1 and 1.2 ng L -1, respectively. The method was applied to the determination of palladium and platinum in water samples with good results.

A new phenolic compound (1), together with eight known compounds (2-9) were isolated from the leaves and stems of Cestrum aurantiacum. The structure was elucidated on the basis of extensive NMR and mass spectral means. The anti-HIV-1 and antioxidant activity of (1) was evaluated and showed weak anti-HIV-1 activity with Therapeutic Index 24.1 and antioxidant activity with an IC 50 value of 3.68 μg/mL.
