Nasution SA, Fachrial E, Ginting CN, Liena, Piska F. 2023. Bacteriocin-producing Pediococcus acidilactici BAMA 15 isolated from "naniura" traditional foods in North Sumatra, Indonesia. Biodiversitas 24: 2830-2835. Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) have beneficial properties for their hosts, potentially promoting health and balancing the normal gut flora. Meanwhile, bacteriocin is a bacteriostatic polypeptide used as a food preservative. LAB are generally produced from fermented products, such as dengke naniura, a typical Toba Batak food. Therefore, it is estimated that the LAB present in this food has the potential as a probiotic and produces bacteriocin, an antimicrobial polypeptide compound. The purpose of this study was to identify the LAB species found in dengke naniura and to characterize the bacteriocin generated by them. The first study stages included the isolation and biochemical and morphological characterization of LAB. Nine LAB isolates (BAMA 10-11, BAMA 15-20, and BAMA 25) were isolated from the samples. The best strain for use as a probiotic was Pediococcus acidilactici BAMA 15 because its antimicrobial activity against E. coli and S. aureus was 6.44 and 7.53 mm, respectively. The bacteriocin produced has a molecular weight estimated to be ?12 kDa.

Injury is the loss or damage of some body tissues, due to a factor that interferes with the body's protective system. The results of several studies state turmeric rhizome extract is effective in wound healing. This study aims to find out the effect of turmeric extract (Curcuma longa) on wound healing in white rats. This type of research is experimental with the approach of Pre-test and Post-test group only control design, conducted November to December 2020. The samples used were turmeric rhizomes (Curcuma Longa) and male white rats. Determination of the size of the sample according to Federer's formula, so that the number of samples as many as 25 mice, the division of 4 treatment groups and 1 control group. The results of the study from the Anova test obtained a Sig value. Calculate 0.000 while sig value (α) is 0.05 which means sig value. Count sig < (α). This means that there is a real influence of the administration of turmeric extract (Curcuma Longa) on the healing of sores in mice. Turmeric ethanol extract (Curcuma Longa) has several bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins that play a role in wound healing. The optimum concentration of turmeric ethanol extract (Curcuma Longa) that can cure sores in white rats is 5%. The highest percentage of cures on k-14 days was in the positive control (Bioplacenton®) which was 95% and followed by extract 5% v/ v with a cure percentage of 90%. The creamy preparation of turmeric ethanol extract (Curcuma Longa) has an ability that is close to Bioplacenton® in healing wounds in mice.

Every year an estimated 529,000 women die as a result of complications arising from pregnancy and childbirth. Labor pain is a physiological condition, an unpleasant feeling that occurs during labor. Nonpharmacological pain management can increase satisfaction during labor because the patient can control his feelings and strength, one of which is the texture of respiratory relaxation. The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of respiratory relaxation techniques on pain adaptation in maternity mothers. This type of research is descriptively correlational, using the One Group Pretest-Postest approach. Location in RSU Royal Prima Jalan Ayahanda Number 68A, Sei Putih Tengah, Medan Petisah, North Sumatra, september - November 2020. The population of 43 people, determining the number of samples with the formula slovin, so that the sample was obtained as many as 30 people. The data analysis used is a normality test using the Shapiro Wilk test, because the number of samples is <50. Bivariate analysis of the data is distributed normally using an at-dependent test (paired t-test), while if the data is not distributed normally using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, with a meaningful limit of <0.05. The results of the study score change in the level of pain Wilcoxon test results at the time of the pre-test test the result of a mean value of 3,466, at the time of the post-test test the mean value of 3,166. So the result of the value Z = -2,714 then p-value as much as 0.007<0.05 so that it is concluded ho rejected and Ha received, which means there is an effect of giving respiratory relaxation techniques to changes in pain in maternity mothers when-I at RSU Royal Prima in 2020.

... ROS stimulates mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway, then increases matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) production, then ultimately reduces collagen (including collagen α type 1/COL-1α1) synthesis, causes collagen and elastin (ELN) fragmentation, and decreases hyaluronic acid (HA) level [2,5]. Furthermore, the HA reduction involves the hyaluronidase enzyme (HAase) [6]. Moreover, the presence of ROS causes photooxidation reactions which lead to oxidation of the basic groups of skin cell DNA, and result in 8hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) compound [7]. ...
