This conceptual study examines the challenges faced by secondary school educators in Mauritius in adopting online classrooms, particularly after COVID-19. It evaluates online education as a tool for enhancing education quality, focusing on gender, ICT infrastructure, and educators' technological and pedagogical knowledge. Through qualitative research, specifically in-depth interviews, the study explores educators' experiences and perceptions. The conceptual analysis suggests that gender may influence educators' attitudes toward technology, with female educators potentially facing more challenges. The availability of robust ICT infrastructure and technical support is crucial for educators' readiness to adopt online teaching. Additionally, educators' knowledge of technology and its pedagogical use is key to successfully integrating online learning. These conceptual insights are intended to guide future research and policy decisions, highlighting the need for targeted professional development and strategic investments in ICT to support online education adoption in Mauritius. Future research should include empirical data and expand to other regions and educational levels for a broader understanding of online education adoption.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly altered traditional work environments, compelling many organizations to adopt remote working models. This conceptual study explores the impact of remote work on the productivity of finance professionals in the post-COVID-19 era, particularly in Mauritius. Drawing on the Theory of Work Adjustment (TWA), the research investigates the influence of personal well-being, environmental factors, and resource constraints on work-from-home (WFH) productivity. The study aims to fill a gap in the existing literature by providing theoretical insights into the unique challenges and opportunities associated with remote work in the finance sector. The research intends to adopt a quantitative methodology, utilizing a systematically sampled survey to collect data from finance professionals. The survey instrument will be adapted from established studies, ensuring reliability and validity through rigorous pretesting and validation using the Rasch Model. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) will be employed to analyze the relationships between the constructs, providing a comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing WFH productivity. The findings are expected to offer valuable insights for senior management and policymakers in optimizing remote work strategies, particularly in maintaining productivity and well-being among finance professionals. The study acknowledges its limitations, including the lack of empirical data and the focus on a specific sector and geographic region. Future research should address these limitations by incorporating real-world data and expanding the scope to other industries and regions, thereby enhancing the generalizability and applicability of the findings.

The COVID-19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on the global economy, significantly impacting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Mauritius. This study investigates the sales dynamics of local SMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Through a quantitative survey, data was collected data on sales performance during the pandemic to gain comprehensive insights into the challenges faced and the adaptive strategies employed by these businesses. The findings underscore the challenges that the majority of participants encountered during the pandemic, with a notable decline in sales emerging as a central concern. The study reveals the diverse measures adopted by these enterprises to navigate the unprecedented economic turbulence. Notably, many turned to online sales channels, implemented cost-cutting measures, and adjusted their workforce. Furthermore, our research sheds light on the perceptions of government intervention among these businesses. A significant proportion expressed satisfaction with the government's response, believing in its effectiveness. This study offers valuable insights into the multifaceted impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on local SMEs in Mauritius and identifies the strategies adopted by these enterprises to adapt to the continually evolving economic landscape. These findings hold significance for policymakers, business proprietors, and other stakeholders as they craft and implement strategies to support and rejuvenate local businesses in the post-pandemic era.

This paper investigated the impact of the RCEP on trade between RCEP-15 and EU-27. The static framework has been used. The empirical evidence is based on the Random Effect estimation and the models shows that while economic growth in RCEP-15 may reduce trade with EU-27, the RCEP negotiations does not have the same effect. The results show that the RCEP negotiations has resulted in an increase in trade between RCEP-15 and EU-27. The interactive term between the RCEP and GDP shows that together these two variables still lead to an increase in trade between RECP-15 and EU-27.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effectiveness of ‘sponsored’ labelled targeted ads in Mauritius and whether these ads can impact the brand awareness and purchase intention of Meta group social media users. By adopting the Uses and Gratification Theory (UGT), this research brings forward a conceptual model of six constructs (customisation, informativeness, entertainment, intrusiveness, brand awareness and Purchase intention) to quantitatively understand the effectiveness of targeted ads on Meta Platforms. A sample of 382 students participated in the survey, where 333 valid responses were used for further analysis. In this research, Confirmatory Factor Analysis was utilised to examine the measurement model for brand awareness, customization, informativeness value, entertainment value, intrusiveness value, and purchase intention. The fit indices indicated a reasonable fit between the model and the data. Using Structural Equation Modelling to test the model, the regression weight between customisation, informativeness, entertainment, intrusiveness and brand awareness were statistically significant. The regression weight between brand awareness and purchase intention was also statistically significant. Practically, the findings emphasize the need for marketers and advertisers to invest in strategies that effectively increase brand awareness through targeted advertising.
