In vitro technique has been used to rescue an endemic and critically endangered plant species Aponogeton bruggenii Yadav & Govekar from Maharashtra (India). Tubers of the plants were successfully cultured on MS medium. Multiple shoot were induced from tuber explants. Excised shoots on transfer to rooting medium produced roots. The plants on transfer to soil were acclimatized and were continued to grow, This approach promises to save this plant from extinction.
