Psychiatry Interpersonal & Biological Processes
Mental health professionals recognize that the emotional problems of children are, for the most part, caused by interpersonal difficulties involving the parents. The most effective way to diagnose and treat these complex interrelationships is an issue requiring continuing study. The authors observed and evaluated, from many points of view, the contributions of a parents' psychotherapy group to the management of these problems. This study includes the use of cotherapists (a male and a female) and the evaluation of treatment outcome, not only from the cotherapists' point of view, but also from the viewpoint of a research team member not involved in the therapeutic plan and independently carrying out a standardized interview with the parents and the psychotherapists of the children.
