The book has seven chapters written by researchers from UNESP, São Paulo State University and collaborators from other universities. There is one chapter dedicated to conceptual aspects in the field of Developmental Psychology and Learning. The other chapters are focused on applied reseach in this field. For instance, language in children with cochlear implant; relationship between mothers and adolescents; social abilities, phobias and internet; numeracy musical training in preschoolers; family reaction towards acquired deficiency and public policies and behavioral strategies to control tropical diseases such as dengue fever.

O desenvolvimento urbano brasileiro é caracterizado pela ausência de planeja- mento que pode ser apontada como um dos precursores dos fenômenos de exclusão e de- sigualdade social atuais. Diante disso, tornam-se imprescindíveis políticas públicas como forma de minimizar eventuais consequências negativas. O planejamento de políticas públicas muitas vezes envolve um planejamento cultural, o que está intrinsecamente relacionado à maneira com que os indivíduos interagem entre si e com o ambiente em que estão inseridos. Nesse sentido, utilizando a descrição de contingências comportamentais de três termos (con- texto antecedente, resposta e consequência), este estudo objetivou analisar funcionalmente legislações acerca do planejamento urbano, especi camente no Estatuto da Cidade, Política Nacional de Mobilidade Urbana e Plano Diretor de Bauru/SP, para identi car e analisar pres- crições comportamentais direta ou indiretamente referenciadas. Foram identi cadas e descri- tas contingências comportamentais, sendo estas relacionadas a prescrições comportamentais a agentes públicos de diferentes níveis de governo, bem como contingências que tratam do comportamento dos munícipes. Foi possível constatar que a lei não explicita os termos que compõem as contingências, sendo que tais implicações são discutidas sob a ótica da Análise Comportamental da Cultura, destacando relações entre as leis e os possíveis efeitos sobre o comportamento dos envolvidos em sua execução.

Este artigo expõe algumas das principais conjecturas sobre o processo de seleção pelas consequências no âmbito das práticas culturais, especialmente no que diz respeito à unidade de seleção: se o indivíduo em situação de grupo ou se o próprio grupo. O ensaio também analisa a maneira pela qual são selecionados os padrões de entrelaçamento de contingências e seu papel na manutenção ou modulação das práticas culturais. Ao discutir implicações de uma visão evolucionista integrada dos “níveis” filogenético, ontogenético e cultural, o estudo argumenta por seleção pelas consequências ocorrendo no grupo e não sobre ele, o que implica a proposição de escolha da contingência de três termos como unidade de análise suficiente e adequada à Análise Comportamental da Cultura.

Este artigo analisa dimensões ético-tecnológicas da Análise Comportamental da Cultura. Mais precisamente, a partir de uma seminal publicação de J. G. Holland, na qual o autor indaga se os princípios comportamentais serviriam aos movimentos revolucionários, examina aspectos derivados da formação acadêmica, da história pessoal de interações e do problema da justificação racional de valores, que constituem condições cruciais para a delimitação dos objetivos dos delineamentos culturais. Considerando ser indissociável do planejamento alguma transformação social, são discutidas alternativas de engajamento do analista comportamental em projetos que contribuam para a consolidação da justiça social.

Since the seminal contributions of Glenn, analysis of sociocultural phenomena in Behavior Analysis has been strongly influenced by assumption of need of a new analysis level. This assumption has favored a molar perspective towards sociocultural phenomena, whose emphasis is on group or social/cultural units identified as object of selection. However, through analyzes that focus on concepts and examples proposed by Glenn, we argue that, on the other hand, those analyzes obscure some relevant variables from the standpoint of a molecular perspective. Furthermore, this article discussed implications that adoption almost exclusive of molar perspectives have had to construction of a behavioral theory of culture.

This article describes and analyzes some links between the concepts of arbitrary reinforcers, natural reinforcers, immediate - or short-term reinforcers and long term reinforcers found in the literature, concerning its specific use in the design of cultural practices. Texts were selected reading the titles, abstracts and keywords. After selection, the texts were classified, as referring to the relationship between reinforcers. Twenty eight texts were selected, of which 18 were classified as texts with reference to the links. If was considered that, although the major publications of Behavior Analysis revealed that these principles have been consistently studied in basic research, only recently, due to the expansion of projects and interventions related to cultural analysis and planning, became important to explore vertically some of its main theoretical and practical implications.

In the context of Behavior Analysis of Culture, concerning the ethical and theoretical conflicts and technological difficulties which are set before the development of cultural designs, there is a lack of a systematic organization of the available options for the conversion of cultural planning into specific interventions. In this context of investigations is where the interests of this research are situated and guided by the goal of developing a "guide" and a "flow-chart for cultural designs", which are preliminary and facilitative instruments to the accomplishment of planned interventions in cultural practices referenced by Behavior Analysis. The work plan considered the purpose of assisting researchers in the primary task of answering the main questions of varied dimension and nature which permeate the performance of behavior analyst of culture. The authors warn to the readers and users about any possibility that the instruments are taken as ready-recipes for the development of cultural designs. In the opposite direction, they understand that these instruments are theoretically and ethically contextualized and it is suggested that test, criticize and certainly re-plan them can constitute welcome activities by part of the scientific community in this area.

There have been many researchers dedicating themselves to analyze behavior to get solutions to social problems. The practice of childhood sedentary lifestyle is a complex problem that evokes a public health concern. This article exposes a work field in which researches identify, describe and analyze verbal reports about effective contingencies at school. It introduces the practices of three teachers of physical education and their 62 students. The results suggest that actions that can support public policies toward mitigating health risks.
