Revision of the Myrsinaceae in Thailand has resulted in the recognition of 7 genera, including 102 species. The presence of vascularised glands (bacterial nodules) at the incision between the crenatures of the leaf margin and the terminal inflorescence on a specialised lateral branch subtended by a normal leaf (rather than a reduced bract-like leaf) place the taxon within §Crispardisia, a well-defined monophyletic group of about 100 species, with a centre of diversity in Asia Yang and Hu 2022).
