Hazardous Waste and Hazardous Materials
Foreign nations may have more to offer of innovative governmental approaches to environmental problems than is generally appreciated in the U.S. This paper reports on a study of approaches to promote hazardous waste minimization among leading industrial nations. In each of the nations, Japan, Denmark, Sweden, West Germany, The Netherlands, and Canada at least one unique innovation was discovered. Some of these might be adapted for use in the U.S. and, especially, the less confrontational government/industry interface could be of value here.
