In 2013 the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador (PUCE) as part of its multidisciplinary research work between the School of Biological Sciences and Systems Engineering project called was performed: Development of a computer system for disseminating information generated by research projects at the School of Biological Sciences at the Antisana Ecological Reserve (REA), in order to promote the dissemination of the results of such investigations. In this collaborative work it allowed the scope to propose a project: Expand the computer system developed and release some of the biodiversity information stored in the database of the Herbarium QCA. A computer system of base rate taxonomic scientific data was developed using the Darwin Core standards biodiversity additionally features modular design, users multi-level which use the management different modules or use them together, the development of a geographical display optimized for kml download files and georeferenced information presentation botanical applying Extreme programming Methodology (XP), Model View Controller (MVC), class diagram, use case testing and verification of results. The result is a computer system, a database of scientific type with information regarding species Pteridophytes deposited in the QCA herbarium with distribution in the REA and other areas of the country for analysis of diversity, conservation and management of plant resources It includes taxonomic information, collection sites and correct location geographical coordinates determines the spatial distribution of species through geographic displays online, photographic documentation of the species identified as types, paratypes, holotypes performing migration of 8,000 of these registry, additional permits information export, which seeks to contribute to knowledge researchers and the general public.
