After three years of implementation, the COLEOPTER team shares the results of the European project that developed an innovative approach of public buildings' rehabilitation /efficient construction. Combining consensus-building, technical and technological innovations, COLEOPTER defined an integrated approach that might change the way municipalities, populations and experts look at public buildings' efficiency projects. The COLEOPTER approach was experimented on four pilot sites in three European countries between 2019 and 2022. The approach relies on three key pillars including the conduct of energy-water nexus audits to consider a building's consumption in a more integrated way; the use of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology as a collaborative tool between experts and non-experts; the conduct of territorial dialogue to better consider the local groups' needs in the making of the work plans. COLEOPTER is a European project funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Interreg Sudoe programme.
