Parental rearing behavior is a significant etiological factor for the vulnerability of psychopathology and has been an issue of clinical research for a long time. For this scope instruments are important who asses economically recalled parental rearing behavior in a clinical practice. Therefore, a short German instrument for the assessment of the recalled parental rearing behavior Fragebogen zum erinnerten elterlichen Erziehungsverhalten (FEE) was psychometrically evaluated [Recalled Parental Rearing Behavior]. This questionnaire was evaluated in a representative population sample (N = 2.948) in Germany which included 44.2% male and 55.8% female persons with a mean age of M = 47.35 (SD = 17.10, range = 18-92). For the content evaluation of the FEE the Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (FLZ) and the Inventory of Interpersonal Problems (IIP) was filled out by the participants. The FEE scales yielded a good to satisfactory internal consistency and split-half reliability. Its three factors (rejection/punishment, emotional warmth, control/overprotection) correlated positively with most of the areas of life satisfaction. Furthermore, positive associations between interpersonal problems and parental rejection and control could be identified. The FEE is a short, reliable and valid instrument that can be applied in the clinical practice. In addition, the data proved an association between recalled parental rearing behavior, life satisfaction and interpersonal problems conform to the literature. Finally, specific problems with the retrospective assessment of parental rearing behavior were addressed as well.

Schlüsselwörter: Skala zur Allgemeinen Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung, Normierung, Standardisierung, bevölkerungsrepräsenta-tive Stichprobe Standardization of the General Self-Efficacy Scale in the German population Abstract. For the General Self-Efficacy Scale developed by Jerusalem and Schwarzer there are no norm values available based on a representative German sample. In 2001, a representative investigation was conducted (N = 2019, age: 16–95 years) which contained the following questionnaires: General Self-Efficacy Scale, Giessen Complaints List, Systems of Belief Inventory , Portraits Values Questionnaire, und Resilience Scale. The one-dimensional structure of the Self-Efficacy Scale was confirmed. Age and gender effects were detected: Males and younger examinees show higher mean values than women and older examinees. The correlation to the Resilience Scale (r = .68) is rather high. Norm values as percentile ranks and T-values are reported.

Personality and Individual Differences
Our current knowledge regarding age and sex differences in sensation seeking is based on studies, which all use the SSS-V. The aim of the present study therefore was to validate the results reported by Zuckerman, Eysenck, and Eysenck (1978) while applying an alternative instrument. We also examined the relevance of sociodemographic factors in sensation seeking. German data were collected from 1949 subjects (47% female; aged 16–79 years) constituting a representative population sample of Germany. Sensation Seeking was measured using the Arnett Inventory of Sensation Seeking (AISS), which consists of two subscales: Novelty and Intensity constituting a Total Score. The results clearly confirm the postulated age and sex differences. Significant age declines occurred on all three scales for both sexes. Males generally scored higher than females in all age groups. The age and sex differences are independent of sociodemographic factors. On the whole, sociodemographic factors explain only a small part of the variance in sensation seeking.

In a sample of elderly from the general population aged 60 years and older (N = 599, 53.6 % female; mean age 69.6 years) resilience was assessed as a protective personality factor for physical well-being by means of the resilience scale (RS; Wagnild and Young, 1993). The elderly reported lower subjective body complaints, when the amount of resilience was higher. The results of a regression analysis showed that resilience was a significant predictive variable for physical well-being besides age and sex. The amount of resilience was lower in women as in men. An age-related effect could not be found.

... It is also largely undermined by empirical findings, suggesting that selfestimates of intrapersonal EI components are relevant predictors of personal adaptation (e.g., Bastian et al., 2005;Gignac, 2006;Mikolajczak et al., 2006;Palmer et al., 2002;Petrides, Pérez-Gronzález, et al., 2007;Petrides, Pita, et al., 2007;Schutte et al., 2007;Thompson et al., 2007). Moreover, a huge body of research has shown that men on average report less stress (e.g., Almeida et al., 1998;Cohen et al., 1983;Levenstein et al., 1993;Schulz et al., 2002), less somatic complaints (e.g., Brähler et al., 1999;Carroll & Niven, 1993), less depression proneness (Hautzinger & Bailer, 1993;Zuckerman, 1989), and less sleeping disorders (Roberts et al., 1999) than women, and also tend to exhibit comparatively lower levels of negative affectivity (Smith & Reise, 1998) and neuroticism (Bolger & Schilling, 1991;Borkenau & Ostendorf, 1991). To get a more detailed picture of potential sex differences in emotional abilities or competencies, the development and application of performance-based measures for the assessment of intrapersonal vs. interpersonal EI componentswhich allow for a simultaneous assessment of the individuals' typical vs. maximal performance in these two domainswould be very useful. ...

... These evaluations include people's emotional reactions to events, their moods, and the judgments they form about their overall life satisfaction, fulfillment, and satisfaction within specific domains such as marriage and work (Diener et al., 2003). Overall, it is notable that the concepts of wellbeing and quality of life are sometimes used synonymously in the literature (Schumacher et al., 2003). The Encyclopedia of quality of life and well-being research, for example, describes subjective well-being as 'individual evaluation of quality of life (QOL) and therefore converges with the definition of QOL' (Proctor, 2014, p. 6437). ...

The number of life events and the total count of days daily hassles occurred were averaged across the two or three measurements within the chosen 9-month period (see below), before calculating a combined stressor exposure score as the mean of the z scores of the average life event count and average daily hassle count. Mental health problems were assessed based on the General Health Questionnaire (Goldberg & Hillier, 1979;Klaiberg et al., 2004) and averaged over the two or three measurements within the chosen 9-month period. A linear regression model was used to obtain the sample's normative relationship between stressor exposure and mental health problem (= regression line) in the total LORA sample (N > 1,000) in the first 9 months of the LORA study. ...
