In this paper TOPSIS is extended to develop one new methodology for solving Multiattribute Decision Making (MADM) problems in Intuitionistic Fuzzy (IF) setting. In this methodology, the ratings of alternatives on attributes are described using Triangular Intuitionistic Fuzzy Numbers (TIFNs) and attribute weights which are linguistic variables expressed in IF sets (IF-sets). According to the ranking order relation of IF-sets, the attribute weights are obtained. A new distance measure of two TIFNs is developed to calculate differences between each alternative and the positive ideal-solution as well as the negative ideal-solution. Based on these distances, the relative closeness degrees to the positive ideal-solution are calculated and the ranking order of all alternatives is generated. A numerical example is examined to show that the method proposed in this paper is effective and practical.
