PURPOSE/AIM A comprehensive, extensively illustrated review aimed at the radiology resident, showing the imaging features of arthritis and related conditions as seen in the hands. This interactive presentation will encompass the inflammatory arthritides, crystal deposition diseases, osteoarthritis, and neuropathic and infectious arthropathies. CONTENT ORGANIZATION Pathophysiology relevant to each of the arthritides. Radiographic plain film appearance and important differential diagnoses. Patterns of disease, distribution, and important discriminators. Correlation with clinical findings and features of disease progression. Pictorial review of sample cases. Interactive Quiz. SUMMARY The presentation aims to provide the reader with an interactive, educational resource, which will impart and test knowledge of this important subject. Examples of the key facets of the arthritides will be shown, using a methodical approach to pattern recognition. An understanding of the distinctive radiographic patterns associated with these conditions is one of the cornerstones of radiology.
