The article explores how the development of research competencies in teacher education can contribute to improving intercultural competence, allowing preservice teachers to better understand the needs of students from diverse cultural contexts and adapt their teaching methods effectively. It analyzed how research competencies and intercultural competence are integrated into teaching practice, highlighting how teachers can use research skills to effectively address the educational needs of diverse students, thus promoting inclusion and educational equity. This title reflects the convergence of three fundamental aspects in contemporary education: the incorporation of research skills in the classroom, the development of intercultural skills in students and teachers, and the importance of solid and updated teacher training. The article explores how these areas intertwine and complement each other to promote inclusive, diverse, and quality education in a globalized world. Therefore, the problem question focused on the exploration of the development of intercultural competencies through a research agenda that integrates topics related to the selection of local culture for teaching, and created with the purpose of promoting the development and generation of knowledge in the intervened social sector, where four public schools in the Municipality of Suan in the south of the Department of Atlántico benefit: Alianza para el Progreso (Alliance for Progress) Educational Institution, Antonio Nariño Educational Institution, Luisa Rodríguez Educational Center, Adolfo León Bolívar Marenco Technical Educational Institution - Headquarters Major, emerging categories of analysis of local culture, which serve as sublines of research for each research project directed by the teacher-advisor
