In this study, a cold aisle containment system was proposed among various strategies to reduce the energy waste by recirculation air from the hot aisle. To verify the effectiveness of the cold aisle containment system, a test bed which is similar to an actually existing server room was set up in the Internet Data Center(IDC) building. Comparative experiments, conventional open type cooling system and cold aisle containment system were carried out under actual conditions. The result revealed that the range of inlet temperature of the server system was in an existing cooling system and the range of inlet temperature dropped below by the cold aisle containment system. After all, cold aisle containment system was proved to be the solution for energy saving cooling system.

Recently, building energy systems with solar collector and solar module have increased to improve energy problem, a heat island, a global warming and carbon dioxide emissions. In this study, value of solar radiation in areas was analyzed using TRNSYS simulation, and the optimum tilt and orientation angle for installing a photovoltaic module was examined. Average values of the weather data in the past twenty years in areas were used as input data. The results show that the tilt angle of a photovoltaic module for gaining the annual maximum solar radiation varies in different localities, and values of the annual solar radiation gained by using the variable photovoltaic module increased by 2.5 percent as compared with that gained by using the fixed photovoltaic module. When fixed photovoltaic module is installed, it should be examined the tilt and orientation angle for installing a photovoltaic module was examined.

Semi volatile organic compounds (SVOCs) are used as plasticizers in building materials, interior materials, furniture, consumer electronics. etc. In the home, these SVOCs mix together with house dust. There is thus concern over the health effects of SVOCS in the home, there is a risk that they ini1uence childhood asthma and allergies. It is difficult to measure SVOCs emission rates from building materials or household appliances utilizing the usual test chamber methods, because the boiling points of SVOCs are higher and they are apt to adhere to the surface of the test chamber used. In this study, we introduce FLEC chamber method, passive sampler method and micro chamber method, which are used in Germany and Japan in order to measure SVOCs emission rates. Characteristic, merits and demerits of test methods are also considered.

... Solar energy, among the various alternative types of new and renewable energy, is highly efficient and serviceable because solar radiation energy can be utilized directly for heating [2]. However, the efficiency and performance of the solar hot water supply system depends largely on the incident angle of solar energy [3]. In order to solve this problem, studies are being performed to determine the optimum installation and solar azimuth angles of the solar collector, for a specific installation latitude of the system. ...
