This article shows that one of the reasons for the deterioration of the condition of highways is largely the mismatch of the operational characteristics of road construction materials with increased traffic loads. The rapid increase in the number of heavy trucks on the roads, the increase in traffic intensity and, as a result, the increase in axial loads on the road surface, contributes to the development of deformations of asphalt concrete roads created on the basis of ordinary bitumen. All over the world, regulatory requirements for their physical and mechanical properties are constantly revised and work is being done to create new modern road materials and technologies. All this is aimed at increasing the durability of road surfaces in modern conditions of their operation. It has been established that the most effective measure for maintaining the transport and operational performance of road surfaces at a sufficient level is the use of geosynthetic materials as reinforcing layers. The reinforcing material, which is used in the construction, reconstruction and repair of roads, perceives and redistributes tensile forces and prevents excessive horizontal deformation of the elongation near the sole of the layer during its bending, which occurs during multiple short-term effects of wheel loads from motor vehicles. It must also perceive and redistribute tensile stresses and prevent excessive deformation that occurs in some cross-sections from prolonged temperature exposure. The article presents the results of research on the use of geosynthetic materials to increase the strength, shear resistance and crack resistance of asphalt concrete coatings in road construction. A broad classification and main functions of geogrids are presented. Different variants of their location in the construction of road clothing are considered. The relevance of the use of geosynthetic materials is outlined, given their effectiveness, diversity, multifunctionality and wide scope of application.

The National Transport University Bulletin

This article is devoted to the study of the quality of adhesion between the asphalt concrete layers of pavement. It is established that the lack of effective methods and appropriate modern equipment or devices does not allow to control the quality of the road structure and affect the composition of the asphalt mixture in the design of pavement in order to improve its technical characteristics. The purpose of the work is to analyze the existing methods, devices and equipment for assessing the quality of adhesion between asphalt concrete layers during shear in the construction of pavement. Research methods - theoretical and experimental. The analysis of the factors influencing interlayer tangential stresses and deformations and leading to loss of stability at shift on highways of Ukraine is carried out. A literature review of data on existing analytical and experimental methods for estimating adhesion during shear between asphalt concrete layers has been carried out. Based on the results of research, taking into account climatic conditions and load parameters from modern vehicles, it is possible to further substantiate the parameters of the optimal method of determining the quality of adhesion between asphalt concrete layers of pavement and develop an automated device to determine it. The results of the work are recommended to be used for quality control during the construction and operation of asphalt concrete layers of pavement. Scope - construction and operation of public roads. Socio-economic efficiency of work is to increase the durability of roads, which will reduce operating costs, increase track stability and road safety. Automobile Roads and Road Construction

This article reflects the importance of the road network for the social development of society and the development of the economy of the country as a whole. On the basis of literary sources provides complex analysis of roads in Ukraine, their current functional state and tendencies of development. It is established that the road industry is in a rather difficult situation due to unsatisfactory transport and operational conditions of the vast majority of Ukrainian roads. Construction of new roads is extremely rare because of lack of financial resources. Road works are usually carried out to preserve the network of already existing roads and to ensure their necessary transport and operational status. According to the results of the analysis, one of the main reasons for the premature destruction of newly constructed or repaired non-rigid pavements is the low strength of interlayer adhesion in the contact area of the newly covered material with the layer below. The effect of clutch durability between asphalt layers on the road strength has been studied in detail. A number of factors that affect the quality of clutch durability between layers are analyzed. It is established that in order to ensure the strength of grafting between asphalt concrete layers of road clothing, it is necessary to strictly observe the technological regimes of their laying, above all temperature; to take into account the physical and mechanical properties of materials at the construction stage and the influence of climatic and mechanical factors, or most often their complex effect on the operation of the highway.
