Japanese synthetic fibre makers are developing textiles with heat-retention characteristics due to an increased consumer interest in apparel materials with extra amenities, especially for sportswear. The features of several newly developed fabrics are outlined. The five core-spun fabric exhibitions held in Europe and the USA last year by the Nitto Boseki Co. Ltd are briefly reviewed; and finally, the Japenese market oriented 'Espa' polyurethane fibre wovens are to be introduced into overseas markets.
