Following SVM estimations, a genetic algorithm (GA) would be used to estimate the daily number of A. gossypii necessary for maximum reproductive fitness of H. variegata across three different nitrogen treatments. The GA is a heuristic technique based on the principals of natural selection and genetics [37] which can efficiently find approximate solutions more quickly than classic methods.
