The article presents theoretical and methodological aspects of social support for families with adolescents with musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in rehabilitation centres. In particular, it describes the process and results from the implementation of the author’s work with mutual support groups of parents of adolescents with MSDs. The article aims to determine and quasi-experimentally verify the methods of rehabilitation of individuals with MSDs and prove their effectiveness in rehabilitation centres with the involvement of parents. During the implementation of the programme, social work with families in centres for social rehabilitation of children with MSDs consists of the following main areas: family therapy, family psychoprophylaxis, providing social assistance to families, mediation in resolving family conflicts, family counselling, social and pedagogical work with families. The content and forms of social and pedagogical work with the family are determined by a group of the following factors: a family type, problems in the family; areas of professional training of the specialist providing services to the family. The quasi-experimental group (EG) consists of 40 leavers from the Vinnytsia Centre for Social Rehabilitation of Children with Special Needs “Promin”, who are diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and six leavers with mild mental disorders. The control group (CG) consists of 40 individuals diagnosed with cerebral palsy and seven individuals with mild mental disorders. The age requirement for EG is 14-19 years old. The formative experiment also involves 27 parents of children with MSDs. The measures taken during the experiment have contributed to developing the skills of conscious psychological separation from constant parental care, taking responsibility for their lives, setting real-life goals and destroying the position of helplessness in individuals with MSDs. The article shows that a set of causes and factors affecting families’ well-being positively or negatively determines the interpersonal relationships and the traditions of family education. The international relevance of the article lies in the effective combination of social support for families with adolescents with MSDs in rehabilitation centres and parents’ involvement. The author’s methodology forms the basis for the new aspects of synergistic family and institutional rehabilitation and support.

It is extremely important to reconsider psycho-pedagogical experience in the problem of intellectual education that is mainly highlighted on the pages of the leading periodical “Sovetskaya Pedagogika”. The research hypothesis is the possibility of using the pedagogical experience of the journal’s co-authors to justify the basic principles of neuropedagogy, which became widespread after its publication had ended. The research aims to identify and generalize the main areas of intellectual education on the pages of the journal based on a holistic retrospective analysis of professional publications and, thus, identify the factual material and theoretical approaches which have formed the basis of modern neuropedagogy. Research methods involve a set of general scientific and psycho-pedagogical methods: systematic search methods (identification, theoretical analysis and systematization of historical-and-pedagogical works and materials of pedagogical periodicals); historical-and-retrospective methods (analysis of the content and characteristics of reflection and solving of problems related to intellectual education on the pages of the journal); comparative methods (comparison of events, phenomena and facts mentioned in the journal, in particular, the views of national and international theorists and practitioners on the problems of intellectual education, which have formed the basis of modern neuropedagogy). In the paper, theoretical generalization and a new approach to solving a topical problem of generalizing the main areas of intellectual education on the pages of the periodical, namely, the problem of intellectual education in the context of developing an idea on the individual’s harmonious development; a comprehensive approach to the problem of intellectual education on the pages of the periodical; the problem of intellectual development as the basis of intellectual education on the pages of the periodical “; promotion of cognitive activity and independence as an effective means of intellectual education; pedagogical views on the problem of intellectual education on the pages of the periodical; foreign experience in promoting intellectual education on the pages of the periodical have been presented. The stages in the history of forming and developing the periodical “Sovetskaya Pedagogika” (1937–1991) have been concretized following the status and subordination. Particular facts, concepts and problems of the prominent educational journal in the context of establishing the ideas of neuropedagogy and neuropsychology have been specified. The significance of pedagogical periodicals as an important source of psycho-pedagogical research has been justified.

The article deals with theoretical and methodical aspects of developing professional competency in first aid in future coaches of Ukraine. It aims to theoretically justify and experimentally verify the methodology for developing professional competency in first aid in future coaches based on simulation learning. The research hypothesis assumes that the level of professional competency in first aid in future coaches will increase if the author’s methodology has been implemented in their training based on simulation learning and taking into account neurophysiological factors. The article proves that simulation learning, along with the use of such approaches as “four steps”, “positive criticism” and “continuous assessment” in the framework of such components of professional competency as motivation and values, knowledge and practice, personal and psychological aspects, organization and communication, leads to positive changes in the development of professional competence in first aid in future coaches. The international relevance of the article is as follows: for the first time in the post-Soviet space, it has been suggested to improve theoretical and methodological aspects of developing professional competency in first aid in future coaches, taking into account neurophysiological factors and current trends; the author’s methodology for developing competency in first aid on the example of Ukraine, which is available for the countries with ongoing reforms education, has been presented.

The study examines the features of the professional activities of sports coaches. As this profession involves experiencing extreme situations, uncertainty, risk, time pressure and critical choices that affect a person's emotional state, hindering his rational thinking, and eventually a person may lose control of the situation, it is important to identify basic measures to normalize the relevant professional activities. The relevance of the study is due to the need to form professional competence in the activities of a sports coach, which is associated with physical training and direct responsibility for the health and sometimes the lives of their athletes. In order to understand the behavioral aspect in extreme situations that occur in sports training, the basic theoretical principles of sports coaches 'response to extreme situations were considered, researchers' conclusions on the behavior of sports coaches were analyzed and effective approaches to decision-making by coaches in extreme conditions were identified. To achieve this goal, methods of analysis and synthesis, descriptive method and content analysis method were used. The results of the study became the basis for determining the conceptual basis for the effectiveness of decision-making by coaches in extreme situations.

The article shows that a postcolonial society provides ample opportunities for realizing the rights of children with special needs. However, they are often uninformed and not even motivated to assert their rights, especially in post-Soviet republics. As part of the research, a specialized course “Human Rights” has been implemented in the educational process under the changed socio-educational conditions (rehabilitation centres). After its implementation, the authors of the article performed a relevant evaluation to verify the effectiveness of the specialized course and the specially created conditions in terms of improving legal knowledge and competencies in children with special needs, compared to those who are in normal circumstances. The course was designed for young people, aged between 14 and 19, from the Vinnytsia Centre for Social Rehabilitation of Children with Special Needs “Promin”, who were diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP). The implementation of the course involved the use of business games, training sessions, visual aids (educational films, pictures, posters, photographs), art therapy, visual art therapy, music therapy. People with MSDs have managed to enhance their knowledge about human rights and relevant legal acts, as well as state-owned institutions protecting human rights, develop their ability to assert their rights and write complaint letters to appropriate institutions, improve their attitude towards honour and dignity of other people, as well as the duty of being conscious citizens in modern society and shape understanding about the prospects of their adulthood.

The article presents the authors’ course “Horticultural Therapy”, which includes various activities related to the interaction with flora and its images. Evidence suggests that Ukrainian discourse lacks methodical materials on horticultural therapy and, thus, requires methods that can contribute to developing the skills of conscious psychological separation from constant parental care, taking responsibility for their lives, setting real-life goals and destroying the position of helplessness in individuals with MSDs. The article aims to theoretically justify, methodically develop and present the results from implementing the authors’ course “Horticultural Therapy” in rehabilitation centres. The authors’ methodical complex is based on the use of the following methods: analysis of theoretical and methodical sources; modelling of educational conditions and programmes; methods of implementing the didactic content in the educational-rehabilitational process; expert evaluation; statistical methods. The verification quasi-experiment of the modelled conditions for corrective learning has shown a significant increase in social skills in individuals with MSDs. Besides, findings confirm the increased levels of their independence, social and personal incentives, household and self-care skills. The international relevance of the article lies in the further development of nature-centric methods of corrective pedagogy, conductive pedagogy and non-medical treatment of CNS diseases, which is an important area of neurorehabilitation today.
