... Considering the presence of amphibians (mostly nocturnal animals) in the sample, it is believed that most of the road-kills occurred between 18:00 p.m. and 07:00 a.m. (Silva et al., 2007). This period is off-peak road traffic activity, which usually occurs in the beginning of the day and in the end of the afternoon, so that, even with this asynchronism with the peak moment on the highways, amphibians are greatly affected by trampling of wildlife, although they are still poorly sampled in studies on this topic (Glista et al., 2008). ...
