In this study, we were clearly identify the behaviour characteristics on particle size distribution of a condensing species by injection condition of HMDS (Hexa Methyl Di-Silazane, silica precursor that is one of liquid adsorbents) to remove condensing gaseous species as using pyroligneous liquor generated during carbonization process of biomass as precursor of condensing gaseous species. When using HMDS to remove the condensing gaseous species by growth machanism of particles, we could be controlled properly particles size such as amount of adsorbent injection, residence time, heating temperature and MFC flux. Especially, in case of using the silica precursor, in consideration of the physical and chemical properties of the boiling point, the specific gravity and the molecular weight, we found that the condensing species could be effectively controlled by particles granulation.


Characteristics of Heat Recovery Rate and Fouling according to Structures and Materials in Heat Exchangers

We researched characteristics of heat recovery rate and fouling according to structures and materials in heat exchangers like water preheater and air preheater. Economizer and air preheater have used in thermal electric power plant. we made small incinerator and heat exchangers to carry out simulated experiment. We observed fouling formation and change of heat recovery rate, combusting powdered coal for 24 hr. In economizer, fin tube type had the largest amount of fouling formation, followed by tube line type > pipe type > auto washing type according to structures. As heat recovery rate, fin tube showed highest recovery rate, followed by auto washing type > pipe type > tube line type. In air preheater, fin tube type had the largest amount of fouling formation, followed by fin plate type > pipe type > pipe type coated by teflon > pipe type coated by ceramic according to structures. And then, heat recovery rate showed the same oder.

Ceramic filters are quite an efficient component for hot gas filtration due to their high collection efficiency and high thermal durability. Among the various steps to fabricate a ceramic filter, sintering is one of the most important processes. In this study, disk-type ceramic filters were prepared at various sintering temperatures, and the effect of sintering temperature on physical/chemical properties and filtration performance were investigated. We found that the sintering temperature strongly influenced the physical and chemical properties as well as the filtration performance of a ceramic filter. The adhesive force among powders and the oxidation degree of Si species are more important parameters to determine the mechanical strength of a ceramic filter than other physical properties. Filters prepared at sintering temperatures lower than 1450 °C have low mechanical strength due to insufficient binding energy among powders, and filters prepared at sintering temperatures higher than 1500 °C also have low mechanical strength due to the oxidation of SiC to SiO2. However, ceramic filters sintered at 1350 °C and 1400 °C achieve a better filter quality factor than other filters, even though they have lower mechanical strength. Therefore, both mechanical strength and filter quality factor should be considered to choose a better ceramic filter.
