Hansjuergen Klemm

Glued timber construction, the processing of the thousand-year-old building material wood with modern synthetic resin adhesives, has transformed wood, a natural product, to an up-to-date, versatile building material, which is not only capable of fulfilling every demand of the draughtsman and stress analyst, but also makes possible the rational prefabrication of timber construction elements. The article discusses properties and technique employed in assembling timber structures by using adhesive, illustrated by several examples from practice.
