Tirofiban is a nonpeptide glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa receptor antagonist used in patients subjected to PCI for the prevention of acute stent thrombosis and reduction of major adverse coronary events [5]. It inhibits platelet aggregation by preventing the attachment of fibrinogen and von Willebrand factor to the GP IIb/IIIa receptor on the thrombocyte surface [6].
