Two new species of the genus Scirtetellus Reuter, 1890 (Heteroptera: Miridae: Orthotylinae: Halticini) are described as new to science from China: Scirtetellus qinghaiensis sp. nov. and Scirtetellus shanxiensis sp. nov. Detailed morphological description, photographs of the dorsal habitus and male parameres, key to species of Scirtetellus from China and species list of Scirtetellus of the world are provided. The 658 bp long fragments of the mitochondrial gene COI (DNA barcode) are provided as a part of the diagnosis of the new species. The type specimens and the DNA sample were deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Nankai University, Tianjin, China.

The three species of Nerthra Say, 1832 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gelastocoridae) occurring in China are reviewed. Dorsal habitus photographs of the two species, Nerthraasiatica (Horváth, 1892) and Nerthraindica (Atkinson, 1889), are provided, accompanied by illustrations of male genitalic structures and female ventral aspect of posterior abdominal segments. The male of Nerthraasiatica is recorded and reviewed for the first time.

Zootaxa

In this paper, three species of the genus Cecyrina Walker are reported. Of these, the type species C. platyrhinoides Walker, 1867 is the only member of the genus previously recorded. Cecyrina flata sp. nov. and C. rubra sp. nov. are described as new to science. Illustrations of the male and female genitalic structures, the dorsal view of the head, the ventral view of the abdomen, and photographs of the adult dorsal and ventral habitus are provided. A key to the males of the genus is also provided to assist in future identification. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Nankai University, Tianjin, China, except where noted.

The species of Tuponia Reuter from China are reviewed. Three of them, T. gracilipedis, T. zhenyuanensis and T. virentis, are described as new. Tuponia ordosica Lü and Cui, 2011 is proposed as a synonym of T. arcufera Reuter, 1879. Keys to subgenera and Chinese species, and illustrations of the habitus and male genitalia for the recognized species are provided. Scanning electron micrographs are given for the new species.

Fossil gelastocorids include three genera and five species, with two species from Early Cretaceous of Brazil (Ruf et al., 2005;Xie and Liu, 2018), two species from the mid-Cretaceous of Myanmar (Poinar and Brown, 2016) and one species from the late Holocene of Chile (Faúndez and Ashworth, 2015). ... Every member of Pherolepis (cf., Figs. 4C−F, 5C) has the body larger, uniformly dark brown coloration, almost linear antennal segment II, less scalelike setae on the thoracic pleura and abdomen (Fig. 4C, E), shiny hemelytron (with scalelike setae restricted or missing in some species), and shortened and broadened right paramere (not much longer than wide), in addition to being associated only with deciduous broadleaf trees unlike the conifers (Kerzhner, 1988; Yasunaga, 2001; Zhang & Liu, 2009). In temperate and cold temperate climate zones in Japan, two pinaceous conifer inhabitants, Pilophorus miyamotoi Linnavuori and P. varidicornis Kerzhner (see above checklist), are known to have the wide head and ovoid, not much antlike body (HCR > 0.85) (Fig. 5A), as seen in Pherolepis. ...
