During the pandemic caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus, the agri-food sector in Romania and Europe suffered due to the consumer market and the restrictions imposed to reduce the spread of the virus. Consumer prices in Romania in 2019 were optimal in terms of consumer price index and so was the aggregate consumer price index. Given the current situation and the obligation to adapt to the new conditions for a good development of the supply and purchase of food products for the population, the questions to be answered are “How has COVID-19 impacted the food market in Romania?” and “How have the prices of agro-food products evolved in Romania?”. These aspects will be the subject of the analysis of this article, which will also discuss other relevant aspects that identify the impact of the pandemic on the Romanian market and the repercussions that followed to combat a food crisis at a national level and a financial crisis among the civilian population.KeywordsCovid-19PriceConsumptionMarketEvolution

In the last decades conventional agriculture has caused the decrease in organic matter content in the soil and the accumulation of toxic compounds, thus affecting soil fertility and health. But the impact is not only felt on soil, one of the main causes of global warming is also intensive chemical fertilisation of agricultural crops. The intensification of conventional agriculture is considered the major factor that influenced the release from the soil into the atmosphere of “greenhouse gases” such as: nitrous oxide (N₂0) and methane (CH₄) who are mainly produced by the spreading of animal fertilizers. This paper aims to determine the impact of conventional agriculture through a comparative study between the conventional defining elements of the intensive system and the ecofriendly alternatives in the extensive system, identifying in this way the possibilities to reduce pollution and to strengthen sustainable agriculture.

... The conventional food system has negative environmental and human impacts, including increased atmospheric greenhouse gasses and increased rates of chronic disease (Girip et al., 2020;Lane and Davis, 2022). Alternative food networks (AFNs) emerged to counteract both the environmental and social issues embedded in the conventional food system; they vary from organic food to biodynamic farming systems to small scale urban and rural agriculture. ...
