Introduction: The mood state is related to health quality, which can be improved by practicing physical exercises. Objective: To verify the effects of an intense functional and metabolic training session on the mood state. Material and Methods: The study group consisted of 29 subjects with a mean age of 32.76 ± 10.39 years, with functional training. The mood state of the subjects was evaluated using the Brunel scale (BRUMS) and the training intensity was controlled using the BORG scale. Each training session lasted 65 minutes. Results: An improvement in the mood state was observed, due to the improvement of the aspects related to tension and anger in both training models and to the aspects of depression in strength training when compared the pre and the post training. Conclusion: Intervention with functional physical training improved the mood state in the aspects of tension, anger and depression of the participants.
