Public speaking is a skill that everyone, including students, should have to increase their self-confidence. Public speaking cannot be avoided since basically humans often have to do it with various purposes. However, many students feel unable to speak in public because they lack confidence, don't master the material, or don't understand how to do it. This community service activity aims to do learning assistance for public speaking to increase the self-confidence of students at Gajah Mada Middle School, Medan. The methods used were direct lecturer, simulations and interactive discussions regarding the basics of public speaking, effective and good communication techniques, and various tips for developing yourself, especially in terms of public speaking. During the learning assistance, participants received basic material and public speaking techniques as well as direct practice. Meanwhile, the research used qualitative method for collecting data. As for the research results, the community service recommends the following: 1) Add extra hours to improve students’ English speaking, 2) Add contest that can motivate students to increase their confidence in public speaking, especially in English language.

Research and Development Journal of Education

Hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah pembelajaran agama Islam pada Program Studi PJKR UPMI Medan akan dinilai dalam penelitian ini dari hasil pemanfaatan media pembelajaran online melalui aplikasi Google Meet. Kelompok mahasiswa yang berpartisipasi dalam pembelajaran melalui Google Meet diberikan data pretest dan posttest sebagai bagian dari desain penelitian eksperimental. Hasil penilaian menunjukkan 1) bahwa peningkatan hasil belajar Mahasiswa berkorelasi signifikan dan positif dengan penggunaan Google Meet. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi penting dalam pengembangan pendidikan agama berbasis teknologi dan menegaskan potensi penggunaan Google Meet sebagai alat pembelajaran yang efektif. Disarankan untuk terus mengintegrasikan teknologi dalam pembelajaran agama dan melakukan pelatihan lebih lanjut untuk meningkatkan kompetensi dosen dan Mahasiswa dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran online. Penelitian lebih lanjut dapat dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi efektivitas media pembelajaran online dalam konteks agama. </p


Development of Audio-Visual Media on the Physical Motor Development of Students in Big Kindergarten

This study aims to determine the effect of the development of audio-visual media on the motor-physical development of students in BIG Kindergarten. This study involved early childhood students aged 5-6 years as participants. An audio-visual-based online learning approach was used in this study to introduce students to interesting physical activities and support the development of their motor skills. This research method use appropriate methods. The proposed solution is the use of audio-visual media which contains games as access to learning materials to develop children's gross motor skills. LCD/Projector is used to display learning videos. The results showed that the audio-visual media developed, including jumping over shapes, hot ball cold ball, cloth rolling ball, light ball, stepping on a tiger's tail, kangaroo ball game, and motion exercises and songs, had a positive influence on students' physical-motor development. Assessments from physical education experts, sports experts, and teachers show that this media gets a high score in the very good category. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the development of audio-visual media in learning gross motor skills has a positive impact on the physical-motor development of early-age students. This media also received a positive response from students and educators, indicating a higher level of motivation and involvement in sports learning. This research contributes to the development of an innovative and effective learning approach in improving gross motor skills of early childhood students.

The application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching and learning activities has a major influence in improving the quality of education, especially in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 as it is today. Classpoint is a learning platform that supports IT-based learning activities. This study aims to determine the application of Classpoints in learning English at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Karanganyar on elevent grade in the academic year 2021/2022. The research approach is qualitative research, case study research. The method that used to collect data is observation, interviews, and documentation. The methods used to analyze the data are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. To test the validity of the data used data triangulation, method triangulation, and source triangulation. The results of research on the three subjects can be seen that the application of classpoint is very effective for learning English

This study aims to determine the development of blended learning on the results of learning English in PJKR study program. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental or quasi-experimental. The quasi-experimental method is different from the actual experiment. In the quasi-experimental method, it has a control group. The sampling technique used in this research is cluster sample or called group sample. Data collection is the most important part of research. Effective and complete data determine the quality of researchers. In this study the authors used the learning achievement test technique, test, observation and documentation. Based on the results of the research that had been done, the size of the concentration and distribution of the pretest result data for the experimental group were: the largest score was 75 and the smallest score was 36, the mean (mean) was 51.67 , the median is 52, the mode is 40.5 and the standard deviation is 11.91. While the posttest data results, the highest score was 91 and the lowest score was 45, the mean (mean) was 72.8, the median was 76.9, the mode was 77.6 and the standard deviation was 15.58. So, the objectives to be achieved in the learning design have been implemented for that, the blended learning model is able to influence student learning outcomes in English.

The advent of COVID-19 and the subsequent national lockdown has catapulted higher education institutions into emergency remote teaching. It is make the students must study from home. Multimodality is an emergent phenomenon that may influence how digital learning is designed. By the Multimodal the teacher and the students can study well, eventhough they are at home. Multimodal employed in highly interactive and immersive learning environments. In this research, the author investigates and analyzes the multimodal theory and proposes an effective way to teach English in higher education under the multimodal vision. This study aims to analyze the multimodal approach theory and proposes an effective way to teach English in higher education under the multimodal vision. The instrument used by the writer in this research is a questioner and interview. The interview was made after administering the questionnaires to verify the students’ responses. The questioner is sent by G-form. From the data and analysis that have been completed from the results of the questionnaire regarding the students’ interest in learning English. There are 47 respondents. The respondents or 93.7 % were attracted to learn English by Multimodal Approach. It means that the Multimodal Approach help to improve the quality of English language teaching in higher education institutions. People cannot attain a communicative goal unless their words address specific cultural or contextual challenges. Thus, language is viewed as a social tool to assist humans in conveying meaning; but, this meaning cannot be obtained if words are conveyed in isolation. As a result, we require contexts or settings in which more phrases and words can be placed in order for listeners or readers to comprehend the meaning behind utterances and words. By applying Halliday’s Systemic Functional Linguistics Theory, this study aims to observe one of three types of meanings, it was ideational meanings. It focuses on language which is used by people in both types of local and regional newspapers to convey information or messages about the experiences of the speakers. Each speaker used different clauses which contained dependent and independent clauses that we call clause complex. To analyze the aspect of projection; Hypotactic Locution, Paratactic Locution, Hypotactic Idea, Paratactic Idea, and Quasi-Projection which were used or appeared in Indonesian newspapers’ story texts. The significance of the study is to improve students’ linguistic knowledge and their writing skill by mastering text structures.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk untuk melihat efektivitas atau pengaruh Gaya Kepemimpinan Kepala Sekolah terhadap Kinerja Guru di SMKN 1 Percut Sei Tuan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik observasi, angket, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis statistik deskriptif dan analisis statistik inferensial. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Kepemimpinan kepala sekolah memiliki pengaruh positif terhadap kinerja guru. Dengan demikian dapat dinyatakan bahwa gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah sangat baik. Hal ini dikarenakan jadwal sekolah dan pengarahan yang baik, kepala sekolah motivasi terhadap pengajar, dan kepala sekolah memperhatikan ketersediaan wahana pembelajaran termasuk sarana teknologi di sekolah.

This study aims to determine the development of a picture and picture learning model for locomotor motion material for fifth grade students at SD Negeri 060890. The research method used by researchers is the Research and Development method. Research and development (R&D) is a basic research activity to obtain information on user needs (needs assessment), then proceed with development activities to produce products and examine the effectiveness of these products (Sugiyono, 2014). Based on the table presented on the previous page, it can be seen that the total score achieved by the teacher in learning through locomotor motion using the picture and picture model with media images at meetings is 35 with Enough criteria. It can be seen in the table, at the meeting that the teacher's skills have not achieved success according to the indicators set. Therefore, at the next meeting the researcher must be able to carry out improvements in learning using poetry writing strategies using picture and picture models with picture media. An effective way for students to avoid pressure is by playing rock-paper-scissors or throwing the ball while singing the rabbit and when the ball stops, it comes forward to show pictures and imitate its movements. After that, the exploration stage. At this stage the teacher forms a discussion group to discuss locomotor movements based on the images shown. The teacher forms this group to make it interesting. In his creations, groups can be made with animal names. And the group imitated the movement based on the animal's name. Next, the teacher provides a learning evaluation. The teacher calls students one by one to imitate what the teacher shows in the picture. Finally, teachers and students reflect on learning. This activity is to get students' responses to the material that has been implemented.
