The purpose of this article is to demonstrate why the application of the Model for Collaborative Evaluations (MCE) can provide someone using a collaborative approach with guidelines of how to accomplish a sound evaluation that produces useful outcomes. A collaborative evaluation is one in which there is a substantial degree of collaboration between evaluators and stakeholders. While there are multiple evaluation approaches, a collaborative evaluation is useful in producing a supportive evaluation environment and engaging key evaluation stakeholders. The context of this evaluation was a civic education project in a large school district in the United States. The evaluation incorporated formative and summative strategies to explore the effectiveness of the civic education project. The stakeholders were included throughout the whole evaluation process. The collaborative relationship between the evaluators and stakeholders was essential to the achievement of the evaluation vision and the MCE facilitated the collaboration process. © Common Ground, Liliana Rodriguez-Campos, Michael Berson, Connie Walker-Egea, Aarti Bellara, Corina Owens, All Rights Reserved.
