Daniela Havranek’s scientific contributions

This article is the only responsibility of Daniela Havranek. I add it in my profile because she was my co-worker. Since 1980, both periodic and sporadic surveys have been carried out to obtain information on insects with coprophagous and necrophagous habits in the Táchira and Mérida states. Through the review of national collections, more information was obtained on the geographical distribution of the species; data are added that include for the first time the Brazilian territory, the altitudinal distribution of this species until now known is located between 140 and 2500 msnm.

Since 1980 in the State of Táchira direct sampling, sampling with a Robinson mercury vapour trap and baited pit-fall traps (meat and dung) have been used to collect necrophagous and coprophagous scarab beetles. The list that includes the Sub-families Aphodinae, Hybosorinae. Troginae and Scarabaeinae contains twenty-four genera and nineteen species, but an estimate of at least sixty species is made, many of theses not yet described.
