Hospitals
There are many factors a hospital must consider when it decides to integrate nuclear medicine, ultrasound, and computerized tomography into one diagnostic imaging department. Diagnostic imaging facilities are not recommended for every major institution. Research centers may profit from beginning with smaller specialty units until clinical investigations is stimulated. However, for most United States hospitals (more than 80 percent have fewer than 300 beds), the design considerations offered for an integrated diagnostic imaging facility are sensible for all installations and probably mandatory for new hospital construction.
