SrO-Al2O3-SiO2 Glass-Ceramic Glaze Compatible with Inkjet Technology

Inkjet printing is obviously the leading technology for ceramic tiles decoration and it is also a common practice to protect the applied decoration with a transparent glaze to avoid abrasion. A protection glaze based on Sr-Al-Si (Zn, Ca, Ba) glass ceramic system with high transparency, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and matt aspect after firing was developed in this research work. The protection glaze was applied on glazed porcelain tiles subsequent to the inkjet printing application. Tiles proved to be resistant to abrasion, stain, thermal shock and chemical attacks without deformation.

Resumo A impressao por jato de tinta e a tecnologia lider para decoracao de placas cerâmicas, sendo uma pratica comum proteger a decoracao aplicada com um vidrado transparente para evitar abrasao. Neste trabalho foi desenvolvido um vidrado protetivo baseado no sistema vitrocerâmico Sr-Al-Si (Zn, Ca, Ba) com grande transparencia, resistencia a abrasao, resistencia quimica e aspecto mate apos a queima. O vidrado protetivo foi aplicado sobre placas porcelânicas esmaltadas logo apos a aplicacao por impressao jato de tinta. As placas decoradas provaram ser resistentes a abrasao, as manchas, ao choque termico e ao ataque quimico, porem sem deformacao.
