Implementation of Independent Curriculum requires teachers must be able to use digital media to create classroom more active, innovative, enjoyable, and can improve students’ learning outcomes. However, students' speaking skills at SMA Negeri 1 Gandapura are still low due to the teacher not yet utilizing digital media optimally in teaching speaking. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using Augmented Reality (AR) media in improving students' speaking skills. This research used an experimental method and the sample of the research was taken two classes; class XI Merdeka 1 as control group and class XI Merdeka 2 as experimental group. The research instrument used was pre-test and post-test. The collected data was analyzed using inferential statistics with a t-test, through SPSS version 16 software. The finding was the students’ average pre-test speaking score in the experimental class was 69.7, while the average post-test score was 72.3. In conclusion, the use of AR media is effective and can enhance students' speaking skills.

English Education Study Program FKIP Almuslim University's third-semester students sometimes have trouble speaking the language. This is brought on by a fear of making a mistake, a lack of language knowledge, and a poor grasp of pronunciation. By utilizing effective and engaging teaching strategies and media, lecturers in the Speaking course must assist their students in resolving this issue. Diorama, particularly digital diorama, is an effective teaching tool because it is a specific three-dimensional media that illustrates or explains anything in miniature. This research was to find how the effect of using diorama in teaching students’ speaking skill ability in increasing students’ speaking skill ability. The population of these study students of in third semester of English Education Study Program of FKIP Almuslim University with 15 students. In order to see the students’ improvement on speaking skill, the procedure of quantitative data with analytic scoring rubric formulated by Oller (1979). This is the one group pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was used for knowing the skill of the students before use diorama activities. After giving the treatment, the students got the post test. The one-tailed paired-samples t-test was used to examine the effect of using diorama in teaching students’ speaking skill ability in increasing students. This result showed that digital diorama model influenced the enhancement of speaking skill after being trained with using digital diorama model.


Improving the Students’ Listening Ability through Broadcast Voice of America (VOA) Learning English to the Second Grade Students of SMAN 1 Peusangan Siblah Krueng

This study describes classroom action research conducted in the second grade of SMAN 1 Peusangan Siblah Krueng to improve students' listening Ability through the application of Broadcast Voice of America (VOA) Learning English as a media. The research method used in this class is a collaborative classroom action research method by collaborating with the English teacher at SMAN 1 Peusangan Siblah Krueng. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of 4 stages, namely the planning stage, the implementation stage, the observation stage and finally the reflection stage. To obtain data in this study, qualitative and quantitative data were used as seen from various activities carried out in improving listening ability through the application of Broadcast Voice of America (VOA) Learning English. The purpose of this research is to know Broadcast Voice of America (VOA) Learning English improve the students listening ability, to know the students’ response toward in listening ability after using Broadcast Voice of America (VOA) Learning English, and to find out the teacher performance in teaching and learning process by the implementation of Broadcast Voice of America (VOA) Learning English.

This article describes a classroom action research held in speaking class through the implementation of trivia-based activity to improve the University students’ speaking fluency and improve the classroom situation as well. The method used in the reasearch is collaborative classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle included four stages namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The data that were obtained qualitatively and quantitatively showed that through trivia-based activity could improve: (1) students’ speaking fluency; (2) speaking classroom situation.

The tittle of the community service activity is the training of English Learning toward the students at the Rumah Quran Khairul Ummah Gandapura Subdistrict, Bireuen Regency. The purpose of this training is to solve the problems faced by the students at Rumah Quran Khairul Ummah during the pandemic. In this activity the students were given the training of English learning in order to provide the students with adequate English competence. The training was held for 3 days from 25th until 27th October 2021. The activity was carried out in two sessions; the first session was a presentation of English learning by the team and the second session was the discussing activity where the students are encouraged to ask questions to the teacher and could discuss about the English with their friends. After the training was done, it can be found that the result was the students were motivated and give good responses during the training activity. Through the activity the students also can increase their knowledge about English and can improve their performance in practicing English. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that the training was done successfully.

Kegiatan PKM melalui pelatihan Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) difasilitasi oleh dosen Prodi. Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Almuslim bertujuan untuk: 1) mewujudkan pelaksanaan tri darma peguruan tinggi, yakni pengajaran, penelitian dan pengabdian kepada masyarakat sesuai dengan bidang ilmu pendidikan Bahasa Inggris; 2) menambah pengetahuan dan pemahaman bagi alumni Prodi. Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia untuk meningkatkan skor TOEFL. Pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM berupa pelatihan TOEFL dilaksanakan melalui metode komunikasi dua arah yang melibatkan peserta pelatihan secara aktif. Sehingga, pengajaran TOEFL mengkondisikan materi dan media yang relevan untuk diajarkan pada alumni pencari kerja atau pemburu beasiswa, dengan metode yang efektif serta menyediakan materi dan media disertai praktik langsung supaya ilmu yang diperoleh dapat dipraktikkan langsung. Hal ini dikarenakan latihan dan pembahasan soal secara langsung memudahkan peserta memperoleh pengetahuan tentang soal yang serupa sehingga target yang diharapkan dapat tercapai dengan baik. Berdasarkan hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan PKM melalui pelatihan TOEFL bagi pencari kerja alumni Prodi. Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia FKIP Universitas Almuslim, disimpulkan bahwa kegiatan ini memberikan kontribusi sebagai berikut: 1) program PKM yang selama ini diharapkan masyarakat untuk memecahkan masalah dalam hal pembelajaran TOEFL; 2) kegiatan khusus yang menarik karena fokus pada bidang Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris bagi alumni yang non basic english; 3) kegiatan yang menyenangkan dengan cara pembahasan soal TOEFL langsung menggunakan trik menjawabnya; dan 4) hasil pelatihan menunjukan adanya peningkatan kemampuan menjawab soal TOEFL Bahasa Inggris bagi peserta pelatihan, sehingga perlu dukungan semua pihak untuk menjadikan kegiatan ini sebagai kegiatan yang berkelanjutan

Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bejudul “Pelatihan Pengajaran English for Young Learners (EYL) bagi Guru-guru SDN 7 Muara Satu Kecamatan Muara Satu Kota Lhokseumawe”, yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan guru dan motivasi siswa dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris yang selama ini dianggap sangat sulit dan membosankan. Oleh sebab itu, pengajaran English for Young Learners (EYL) diperlukan dalam pelatihan ini. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dengan metode komunikasi dua arah yang melibatkan semua peserta pelatihan secara aktif sehingga peserta yang hadir akan dikondisikan sebagai penerima pengetahuan yang aktif. Kegiatan PKM melalui pelatihan pengajaran English for young learners dilaksanakan pada tanggal 11 s.d 13 Februari 2019 yang diikuti oleh guru dan murid SDN 7 Muara Satu Kecamatan Muara Satu Kota Lhokseumawe. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan adanya perubahan ke arah yang lebih baik lagi dan kegiatan ini akan menjadi sebuah kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang bermanfaat. Selain itu, kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mengatasi masalah yang dihadapi oleh guru maupun murid di kelas.
