A ictiofauna amazônica é muito importante para o desenvolvimento comercial da Amazônia peruana, sendo a carne de peixe a principal fonte de proteína animal consumida pela população amazônica. Apesar da grande demanda de pescado nos mercados amazónicos, pouco se sabe sobre os parasitos presentes em sua carne, havendo risco potencial de contrair um parasito zoonótico. Nesse sentido, o presente estudo teve como objetivo identificar endoparasitas em peixes para consumo comercializados em mercados da cidade de Iquitos, relatando a presença de espécies zoonóticas parasitando órgãos internos e os músculos dos peixes. As amostras de peixe foram adquiridas nos mercados “Modelo”, “Secada”, “Cardozo” e “Belén” localizados na cidade de Iquitos, Loreto, Peru. No total, foram analisadas 29 espécies de peixes, examinando os órgãos internos, cavidade e musculatura. Os resultados obtidos permitiram a identificação de Clinostomum marginatum e Ithyoclinostomum dimorphum (Trematoda), larvas L3 de Anisakis sp., Contracaecum sp., Hysterothylacium sp., Terranova sp., Pseudoterranova sp., larvas L4 de Eustrongylides sp. (Nematoda) e Sebekia sp. (Pentastomida). Esses parasitos representam riscos latentes à saúde do consumidor caso sejam ingeridos acidentalmente em preparações culinárias que utilizam carne de peixe crua ou malcozida como preparo.

Colossoma macropomum is one of the main fish species farmed in the Peruvian Amazonia, being highly demanded and accepted by the local population. Among the pathogens that parasitize freshwater fish, species of Monogenoidea stand out. Therefore, the following study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of sodium chloride (salt) and formalin as a treatment against monogenoids present in C. macropomum cultivated in the Peruvian Amazonia. The species of Monogenoidea identified in this study were Anacanthorus spatulathus, A. penilabiatus, and Notozothecium janauachaensis. In vitro and in vivo tests were carried out in the "Laboratorio de Parasitología y Sanidad Acuícola" located in Iquitos, Peru. Regarding the in vitro assay, 20 and 30 mg ml-1 of salt and 0.005 and 0.008 mg ml-1 of formalin were tested. The mean survival time of the monogenoids was 5.06, 3.23, 10.11, and 6.86 minutes, respectively. For the in vivo test, 20 (T1) and 30 g L-1 (T2), 0.5 (T3), and 0.8 ml ml-1 (T4) were used. Compared with each control treatment control, all treatments used showed a reduction in their parasitological indices. Regarding to the effectiveness of each treatment, 29.9% was recorded for T1, 63.43% for T2, 99.81 for T, and 99.85 for T4. Fish exposed to different concentrations of salt and formalin did not show lethargy of the hypoxia signs. No behavioral changes were observed and all fish (100%) survived during the experiment. Thus, this study demonstrated the efficacy of using salt and formalin in the four concentrations tested. RESUMO Colossoma macropomum é uma das principais espécies de peixes cultivadas na Amazônia peruana, sendo altamente demandada e aceita pela população local. Dentre os patógenos que parasitam peixes de água doce, destacam-se as espécies de Monogenoidea. Desta forma, o seguinte estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a eficácia do cloreto de sódio (sal) e formalina como tratamento contra monogenóides presentes em C. macropomum cultivado na Amazônia peruana. As espécies de Monogenoidea identificadas neste estudo foram Anacanthorus spatulathus, A. penilabiatus e Notozothecium janauachaensis. Testes in vitro e in vivo foram realizados no "Laboratorio de Parasitología y Sanidad Acuícola" localizado em Iquitos, Peru. Em relação ao ensaio in vitro, foram testados 20 e 30 mg ml-1 de sal e 0,005 e 0,008 ml ml-1 de formalina. O tempo médio de sobrevivência dos monogenóides foi de 5,06, 3,23, 10,11 e 6,86 minutos, respectivamente. Para o teste in vivo, foram utilizados 20 (T1) e 30 g L-1 (T2), 0,5 (T3) e 0,8 ml ml-1 (T4). Comparados com cada tratamento controle, todos os tratamentos utilizados apresentaram redução em seus índices parasitológicos. Quanto à eficácia de cada tratamento 29,9% foi registrado para T1, 63,43% para T2, 99,81 para T3 e 99,85 para T4. Os peixes expostos a diferentes concentrações de sal e formalina não apresentaram letargia dos sinais de hipóxia. Não foram observadas alterações comportamentais e todos os peixes (100%) sobreviveram durante o experimento. Desta forma, este estudo demonstrou a eficácia de usar sal e formalina nas quatro concentrações testadas.

En este trabajo se registra una nueva especie de Monogenoidea, Cosmetocleithrum amazonensis n. sp., parasitando las branquias del silurido Auchenipterichthys coracoideus (Eigenmann & Allen, 1942). Cosmetocleithrum amazonensis n. sp. se distingue de todas las demás especies congéneres por poseer un órgano copulador masculino (OCM) tubo alargado, esclerotizado y sinuoso, con espirales poco definidos, base con borde esclerotizado y con la región distal apoyada sobre la pieza accesoria. La pieza accesoria es una placa única, robusta y no articulada con el OCM. En este estudio se presenta el tercer registro de una especie de Monogenoidea en un hospedero Auchenipteridae (Siluriformes) del Perú. RESUMEN La ictiofauna amazónica es muy importante para el desarrollo comercial de la Amazonia Peruana, siendo la carne de pescado, la principal fuente de proteína animal consumida por el poblador amazónico. A pesar de la alta demanda de pescado en los mercados de la ciudad, poco se conoce acerca de los parásitos presentes en su carne, existiendo un riesgo potencial para contraer algún parásito zoonótico. En tal sentido, el presente estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar a endoparásitos en peces de consumo comercializados en mercados de la ciudad de Iquitos, reportando la presencia de especies zoonóticas parasitando órganos internos y la musculatura de los peces. Muestras de peces fueron adquiridas de los mercados "Modelo", "Secada", "Cardozo" y "Belén" localizadas en la ciudad de Iquitos, Loreto, Perú. En total fueron analizadas 29 especies de peces, examinando los órganos internos, cavidad y musculatura. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron la identificación de 15 géneros y 22 especies parasitarias (ocho tremátodos, cuatro céstodos, dos acantocéfalos, 22 nemátodos y un pentastómido). New species of Demidospermus (Monogenoidea: Dactylogyridae) from the gills of Pseudoplatystoma punctifer (Siluriformes: Pimelodidae) collected in the Peruvian Amazonia

Pseudoplatystoma punctifer is a catfish species that occupies the first place in the statistics of fishing landings in the region of Loreto, being of economic importance in the Peruvian Amazonia. As an initiative to know the parasites present in the gills of P. punctifer from the Peruvian Amazonia, a study was carried out with fish collected in the Belén Market, in Loreto-Peru. Specimens were provided between June and October 2018 from local fishermen from the Belén Market, in Loreto-Peru and samples were processed and analyzed in the “Laboratorio de Parasitología y Sanidad Acuícola” from the “Instituto de Investigaciones de la Amazonía Peruana” (IIAP) in Iquitos, Loreto-Peru. The analyzes of the gills revealed the presence of two new species of Monogenoidea: Demidospermus aureagarciae n. sp. and D. doncellae n. sp. These species are unique among congeners by the morphology of the copulatory complex and vagina. Demidospermus aureagarciae n. sp presents a male copulatory organ as a coiled tube, with a complete counterclockwise ring, with dilated base with a developed sclerotized margin, from which a flap projects; a concave accessory piece, with a tapered and curved distal part and a saculiform vaginal vestibule, connected to the vaginal canal. Demidospermus doncellae n. sp. presents a copulatory complex that is an elongated coiled tube, with approximately three clockwise rings, with dilated base with a developed sclerotized margin, from which a flap projects; an accessory piece sheath like, and a sclerotized vagina with dextral position, with saclike vaginal vestibule, connected to an elongated canal.


Vista de Evaluación temporal de la presencia de Dolops discoidalis (Branchiura Argulidae) sobre Pseudoplatystoma punctifer (Pimelodidae) en Quistococha, Iquitos – Perú

Revista Peruana de Investigación Agropecuaria

El estudio reporta la presencia de branquiuros parasitando un plantel de 29 reproductores de doncella Pseudoplatystoma punctifer en Quistococha, Perú. Se identificó al parásito detallando sus aspectos morfométricos, calculando sus índices parasitológicos, registrando sus lugares de fijación y correlacionando la talla y peso de los peces hospederos con la abundancia de branquiuros. Tras el análisis de las muestras, se identificó el branchiuro Dolops discoidalis que parasita la parte dorsal y ventral del cuerpo de P. punctifer. Los índices parasitológicos, indicaron que todos los hospederos estuvieron infestados los 12 meses de muestreo, registrándose un total de 1143 branquiuros. Se reportaron correlaciones positivas entre la longitud total (r= 0,58; p<0,05) y peso (r= 0,64; p<0,05) de los hospederos y la abundancia de branquiuros. Los valores más altos en los índices parasitológicos se registraron después de varios meses de exposición a branquiuros sin ningún control, lo que resultó en un aumento desproporcionado de la carga parasitaria. El estudio demuestra que el comportamiento y biometría de los hospederos, así como la estación hidrológica, influyen directamente en la abundancia de D. discoidalis. Sin embargo, es importante evaluar si los factores reproductivos y ambientales influyen en las relaciones hospedero-parásito en estanques piscícolas de la Amazonía peruana.


Uso de Cítricos como Sustrato para la Cría en Semicautiverio de Hermetia illucens “Mosca Soldado Negro” en Loreto, Perú

En la crianza de peces nativos de la Amazonıá peruana como Colossoma macropomum, Piaractus brachypomus, Brycon amazonicus, Prochilodus nigricans y Arapaima gigas se utiliza alimento balanceado, en cuya formulación predomina la harina de pescado y otros insumos no locales. Esto, encarece y dificulta su adquisición, principalmente por los productores rurales amazónicos que se encuentran alejados del área urbana. Mundialmente, existen experiencias de alternativas para la crianza de peces en base al uso de vegetales, frutas e insectos, aprovechando la diversidad biológica del entorno. Así, el uso de larvas de insectos constituye una alternativa promisoria para el sector acuıć ola a escala global. El presente estudio muestra la cría en semicautiverio de Hermetia illucens “mosca soldado negra” utilizando residuos orgánicos (cítricos) colectados del área urbana y rural, destacando el uso de bagazo de naranjas y toronja. De esta forma utilizando, el principio de economía circular, se obtuvieron larvas vivas y harina de mosca soldado, las cuales podrán ser utilizadas para alimentar a peces de importancia comercial. Como producto final de la crianza de las larvas se obtuvo un compost orgánico ideal para sistemas agroforestales. Este estudio muestra una metodologıá barata, accesible y armónica con el ambiente para la crianza de mosca soldado negra en semicautiverio en la región de Loreto utilizando cıt́ricos del área urbana y rural.

In the present study it is presented a list of species of Monogenoidea with their fish-hosts used in aquaculture in the Peruvian Amazonia. Fish species were obtained from April 2018 to April 2022 from different artificial fish ponds located in “Centro de Investigaciones Fernando Alcántara Bocanegra” (CIFAB) of the “Instituto de Investigaciones de la Amazonía Peruana (IIAP) in Loreto-Peru and from fish ponds of the “Centro de Investigación Carlos Miguel Castañeda Ruiz” from IIAP, San Martín- Peru. A total list of fourty-eight species is presenting in the present study: one species from Arapaima gigas (Schinz); four species from Colossoma macropomum (Cuvier); five species from Myloplus schomburgkii (Jardine); two species from Piaractus brachypomus (Cuvier); 19 species from Pygocentrus natterei (Kner); one species from Prochilodus nigricans (Spix & Agassiz); five species from Brycon amazonicus (Spix & Agassiz); one species from Chaetobranchus flavescens; three species from Astronotus ocellatus (Agassiz); two species from Cichla monoculus (Agassiz); four species from Pterigoplichthys pardalis (Castelnau); three species from Calophysus macropterus (Lichtenstein); and three species from Pseudoplatystoma punctifer (Castelnau).
