The initial problems encountered and project solutions implemented by Topsoe in building a replacement hydrogen plant within the refinery, satisfying strict enviornmental regulations and space restrictions, were discussed. The objective of the hydrogen expansion project was to achieve the required hydrogen capacity increase and product quality at reduced specific energy consumption. Topsoe had supplied technology, catalysts and design for more than 200 reforming units for various hydrogen and synthetic gas applications worldwide.
