While Sr/Ca ratios are mostly used to assess the shell preservation of fossil specimens (Brand and Veizer, 1980), this ratio also constitutes a potential marine paleothermometer applicable to brachiopod shells, as is the case for corals (McCulloch et al., 1994;Shen et al., 1996;Marshall and Mc-Culloch, 2002;Swart et al., 2002;Ayling et al., 2006;De-Long et al., 2011).
