The use of The National Map in providing public access to high-quality, geospatial data and information from multiple partners to help inform decision making by resource managers and public was discussed. The National Map Viewer is conceptualized on a service-based architecture and the services that deliver the data to The National Map from federal sources. The National Map interlinks data, spatial information and tools received from organizations across the country to be passed on to the end users. Web services for GIS involve the delivery of map data and tools to work with those data.
