What is this page?
This page lists the scientific contributions of an author, who either does not have a ResearchGate profile, or has not yet added these contributions to their profile.
It was automatically created by ResearchGate to create a record of this author's body of work. We create such pages to advance our goal of creating and maintaining the most comprehensive scientific repository possible. In doing so, we process publicly available (personal) data relating to the author as a member of the scientific community.
If you're a ResearchGate member, you can follow this page to keep up with this author's work.
If you are this author, and you don't want us to display this page anymore, please let us know.

Since carbonate formation is an important process linking inorganic and biological components of freshwater ecosystems, we characterized the formation of modern carbonate sediments in a large, shallow, calcareous lake (Lake Balaton in Hungary). We measured the amount of allochtonous mineral particles delivered to the lake by tributaries and through...
During the last decades, different sulphosalts were observed in several samples that were investigated from the Meleg hill, Velence Mts. The investigated sample of this study was collected from the less studied north-eastern, stibnite-rich part of the hydrothermal breccia at the Meleg Hill. Based on the results of electron microprobe analysis, we f...
Changes in circulation patterns associated with climate change have led to an increase in the frequency and intensity of Saharan dust events (SDEs) in the Carpathian Basin. The annual number of dust events was 4.2 on average between 1979 and 2010, while in the period of 2011–2018, it has increased to 10.3. This study presents a quantitative assessm...
Naturally occurring asbestos (NOA) and possible health risk has not been studied in Albania during the last 20 years, though unwanted „mineral resources” are large due to the frequence of ophiolites. This study evaluates earlier exploration findings in terms of modern (local) mineral identification, environmental occurrence, behavior in the host en...
A cikk a trianoni békeszerződés aláírásának 100.
Niello, a bluish black metal sulphide, was widely used for decoration of metal objects by artisans of the Roman Empire. Our knowledge, however, concerning the exact Roman-period niello technique, the appearance of binary silver–copper sulphide niello-decorated silver objects in particular is very scarce. An extensively nielloed silver augur staff (...
The Úrkút manganese ore deposit (Transdanubian Range, Hungary) is one of the largest manganese accumulations to be formed during the Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event. In the past 60 years, the area was investigated intensively. The core storage facility of the manganese mine had more than 20,000 sample pieces. Most of these samples have never been inv...

... We confirmed that smectite accelerates the formation of crystalline CaCO 3 phases even in the presence of dissolved species that are well-known inhibitors of CaCO 3 formation. Our findings are in line with observations of calcareous sediment accumulation being enhanced by smectite (i.e., in a lake: Rostási et al., 2022), and could contribute to a better understanding of early diagenetic processes and the formation of marls. Based on our results, the formation of cements (even in the case of microbialites) and the consolidation of sediments could take place faster by the heterogeneous nucleation of CaCO 3 phases on smectite than in its absence. ...
... A noteworthy result of our measurements is the observation of significant contributions of Saharan dust events to the solid material in rainwater, and probably also Frontiers in Earth Science frontiersin.org to dry deposition (Rostási et al., 2022). Since climate change appears to have rearranged synoptic meteorological patterns (Varga 2020), the incursion of southern air masses became more frequent in recent years (Varga et al., 2013), and the amount of Saharan dust reaching Lake Balaton is expected to increase in the future. ...
... Intentional use of binary silver-copper sulphide niello (stromeyerite AgCuS) is assumed to have started only at the end of the 5 th century AD (Moss, 1953;Dennis, 1979;Newman et al., 1982;La Niece, 1983;Oddy et al., 1983;Schweizer, 1993;Northover and La Niece, 2009). Recent studies have proved that silver-copper sulphide niello (reaching the composition of stromeyerite) was already being used in Roman times (Mozgai et al., 2019c). ...
