I use the word'syllabi' instead of 'curriculum' in the title as my focus is particularly on the content of the courses being taught in the classroom rather than on the overall teaching-learning experience of the academic programme. When discussing the differences between curriculum and syllabus it is noted that the former involves a broad spectrum of educational processes beginning with needs analysis, objectives, methods, pedagogy, materials, syllabus and assessment along with philosophical, social, cultural, political and administrative factors, whereas the latter is viewed as a document that provides the teacher and the learner with the content to be learnt [1][2][3]. It is true that the syllabus is a 'document' but it is not limited to just that; the syllabus too with its selection and choices of texts and materials reveals the beliefs, ideologies, philosophy, mindset of the teachers and their context involved in creating it. ...
