Arundhati Roy

Nacida en 1961, la escritora hindú Arundhati Roy creció en la provincia de Kerala y estudió Arquitectura en la Universidad de Delhi. Autora de los guiones del telefilm In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones (1988) y de la película Electric Moon (1992), Roy irrumpió plenamente en la escena literaria con El dios de las pequeñas cosas (1997), una saga familiar ambientada en Kerala y escrita en inglés, que valió a su autora la comparación tanto con García Márquez como con Salman Rushdie, el cuantioso Premio Booker y la traducción a más de treinta idiomas. Posteriormente han sido publicados en castellano sus ensayos políticos, recogidos en El final de la imaginación (1998), implacable crítica a la competencia nuclear entre India y Pakistán, y El álgebra de la justicia infinita (2001).
