Incorporada a la seva gramàtica dramatúrgica la perspectiva nacionalista de Rodolfo Usigli, Miguel Ángel Tenorio ha anat qüestionant, al llarg de tota la seva producció, les figures clàssiques de l'imaginari mexicà per investigar una representació diferent del perfil històric nacional. Amb Travesía guadalupana(1996), que posa en l'actualitat contemporània als més poderosos personatges del passat mitològic (Tonantzin, Coatlicue, Huitzilopochtli, Coyolxauhqui, Tezcatlipoca y Tlazoltéotl), Tenorio dibuixa un viatge en les imatges de l'estatut ontològic de la memòria mítica i porta a l'espectador a l'espai circular d'una superfície cronològica oberta, on els diferents nivells temporals coincideixen en un únic supertemps.

Fifty years after the student slaughter in 1968 in Mexico City, Elena Poniatowska's La noche de Tlatelolco still represents the narrative archetype of the massacre. This essay aims to analyse the mythical, structural and social elements of the work that, from the intersubjective experience of the silenced periphery, outlines a new methodology for the reconstruction of historical memory. By challenging the State project for the marginalization of the residual voices, the plaza's poetics turns the testimonio's polyphony into an aesthetic strategy of political denounce.
