We investigate various aspects of the modular representation theory of Z=p Z=p with particular focus on modules of constant Jordan type. The special modules we consider and the constructions we introduce not only reveal some of the structure of (Z=p Z=p)-modules but also provide a guide to further study of the representation theory of nite group schemes.

We compute the motivic cohomology groups of the simplicial motive Xθ of a Rost variety for an n-symbol θ in Galois cohomology of a field. As an application we compute the kernel and cokernel of multiplication by θ in Galois cohomology. We also show that the reduced norm map on K2 of a division algebra of square-free degree is injective.

In this paper we prove that every finitely generated locally polynomial algebra over a ring having only a finite number of minimal prime ideals is isomorphic to the symmetric algebra of a finitely generated projective module. We also obtain some other results on the structure of locally polynomial algebras.Bibliography: 8 titles.

The basic purpose of this paper is to prove bijectivity of the norm residue homomorphism for any field of characteristic prime to . In particular, if , then any central simple algebra of exponent is similar to a tensor product of cyclic algebras. In the course of the proof we obtain partial degeneracy of the Gersten spectral sequence, and we compute some -cohomology groups of Severi-Brauer groups corresponding to cyclic algebras of prime degree. The fundamental theorem also gives us several corollaries. Bibliography: 27 titles.

Reciprocity laws and Mennicke symbols for regular rings of arbitrary dimension are introduced and studied. The universal Mennicke symbol for the polynomial ring relative to the principal ideal is computed. The results obtained in this paper are applied to the problem of determining the precise value of the stable rank of polynomial rings and affine algebras over fields. Bibliography: 19 titles.

... This is in contrast to efforts devoted to establish properties of one or more categories of representations of such a finite group scheme. Our techniques do not apply to finite groups, for we utilize the support theory developed in collaboration with A. Suslin and C. Bendel in [22], [23] which replaces cohomological varieties by varieties of 1-parameter subgroups. ...

... In the present paper, we slightly adapt the proof from [17] to obtain such a bound, cubic in n, in terms of the Stein-Tits-Vaserstein generators of E(n, R, I), see [15,20,23]. Of course, now we have the advantage of the hindsight, provided by the papers by the second author and Zhang Zuhong, where very similar calculations were performed at the birelative level, see [27,28] and references therein. ...

... Friedlander and Suslin [10] introduced the category of strict polynomial functors of degree d as the representations of the Schur category of degree d, for each non-negative integer d (see Section 4.1). The category of strict polynomial functors of degree d unifies the categories of homogeneous polynomial representations of GL n (F ) of degree d across all n. ...

... Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic p ≥ 2, r ∈ N ≥2 and E r be a p-elementary abelian group of rank r. In [6] and [9] the authors introduced and studied the subcategories of modules with the equal kernels property and the equal images property to get a better understanding of the, in general, wild category mod kE r of finite dimensional kE r -modules. Let x 1 , . . . ...

... induced by inclusion of the ring R into its fraction field K. So, our results on the conjecture correspond to the case when R is an unramified regular local ring of mixed characteristic and G is the group SL 1 (D) of norm one elements of an Azumaya R-algebra D. The results extend to the mixed characteristic case the ones proved in [23] by A. Suslin and the author. ...
