The American Diabetes Association (ADA) "Standards of Medical Care in Diabetes" includes the ADA's current clinical practice recommendations and is intended to provide the components of diabetes care, general treatment goals and guidelines, and tools to evaluate quality of care. Members of the ADA Professional Practice Committee (https://doi.org/10.2337/dc20-SPPC), a multidisciplinary expert committee, are responsible for updating the Standards of Care annually, or more frequently as warranted. For a detailed description of ADA standards, statements, and reports, as well as the evidence-grading system for ADA's clinical practice recommendations, please refer to the Standards of Care Introduction (https://doi.org/10.2337/dc20-SINT). Readers who wish to comment on the Standards of Care are invited to do so at professional.diabetes.org/SOC.

... However, the challenge lies in ensuring that individuals with diabetes maintain proper glucose control consistently over time. This challenge is compounded by various factors such as the limited access to healthcare in certain regions, insufficient patient education, and the complexities involved in self-managing the disease, particularly for those living in low-resource settings [5]. Currently, the most common method of insulin delivery is through daily injections, but this approach often leads to inconsistent results due to factors such as incorrect dosing, missed injections, or variable patient compliance. ...

... However, rice has a glycemic index (GI) ranging from 54 to 121 [24]. The long-term consumption of foods with a GI between 79 and 82 significantly increases the risk of developing diabetes [25]. Consuming certain different types of plant-based proteins can reduce the incremental area under the blood glucose curve (iAUC) after a meal [26], which can help control blood sugar levels. ...

... It is even more noteworthy that the risk of GDM patients developing type 2 diabetes significantly increases within 5-15 years after deliver [2]. According to global statistics, GDM affects approximately 5-20% of pregnant women [3]. A recent meta-analysis involving 79,064 Chinese participants revealed that the total incidence of GDM in mainland China was 14.8% (95% confidence interval 12.8-16.7%) ...

... One of the most significant challenges in mitigating the effects of diabetes on the health and wellness of minority populations in the US is improving basic social determinants of health, including low socioeconomic status, poor access to educational opportunities, conditions of poverty, excess life stressors, poor health knowledge, and limited access to quality and affordable health care. Strategies to mitigate diabetes among minority populations at greater risk for severe COVID-19 disease would involve improving glycemic control among AAs and H/Ls, which is a major problem [82]. Management of hypertension has been problematic among minority populations with diabetes. ...

... For those at risk of type 2 diabetes, a comprehensive evaluation is crucial, considering factors such as gestational size, family history, maternal diabetes, insulin resistance complications, and the use of obesity-related psychotropic drugs [2]. The American Diabetes Association's criteria for detecting glucose metabolism changes are outlined in Table 1 [86]. ...

... The same laboratory within the Camlica Medipol University Hospital performed the laboratory testing. Pregnant women undergo a 75 g OGTT test between 24 and 28 weeks of gestation as part of a universal screening American Diabetes Association (ADA) protocol [13]. The OGTT test involves measurement of plasma glucose levels after an overnight fast (8 h), followed by oral consumption of 75 g glucose, and plasma glucose measurement at one and two hours. ...

... However, SMBG is inconvenient as it is painful, antisocial and can compromise adherence (Ajjan, 2017). HbA1c reflects average glycemia without considering Glycemic Variability (GV) and hypoglycemia, indicating the need to include new metrics for assessing glycemic control (Ajjan, 2017;American Diabetes Association, 2018) One of the great advances in technology for the treatment of diabetes was the development of the technique for reading interstitial glucose and its correlation with CBG (Rodbard, 2016). Flash Glucose Monitoring (FGM; Abbott Diabetes Care, Witney, UK) technology, FreeStyle Libre (FSL), has been introduced into the technological arsenal for the therapeutic guidance of diabetes. ...

... Current evidence suggests that the treatment regimen this patient received before hospitalization was not optimized to prevent or delay the progression of cardiorenal diseases. Irrespective of their UACR measurement, patients with hypertension and diabetes should receive renin-angiotensin receptor inhibition with either an ACE inhibitor or an angiotensin receptor blocker; renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system inhibitors should be titrated to the maximal tolerated dose to reach a suggested blood pressure target of <130/80 mmHg (30,31). This target is in line with 2022 ADA guidelines for the management of CVD in type 2 diabetes (32), although an ideal blood pressure goal for patients with hypertension and diabetes has yet to be firmly established from randomized clinical trials. ...
