This study aims to develop an educational game, namely the Multiplication Suit game in the concept of multiplying integers. This research was conducted at MIS Tahfidzul Qur'an Darun Najah Padangsidimpuan with 26 class II students. This research is a development research using the ADDIE development model with data analysis techniques using quantitative description techniques. This study uses an analysis of learning outcomes (effectiveness test). Based on the results of data analysis it can be concluded that the Multiplication Suit game is needed in learning to provide effective, efficient and of course interesting learning. The effectiveness of developing the Multiplication Suit game can be seen from the results of the effectiveness test using paired samples t test on student evaluations at the pretest and posttest which showed an increase in the average student score from initially 77.31 to 84.85 meaning that there was an increase of 7.54. This significant increase was also seen in calculations with SPSS with a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, which means that the pretest and posttest results changed significantly before and after the test. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the Multiplication Suit game is effective because it can improve the multiplication counting skills of grade II SD/MI students in learning mathematics.

This research was conducted in Grade VI at SD 200223 Sibulan-bulan Padangsidimpuan during the academic year 2023/2024, focusing on the topic of fractions. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of the Realistic Mathematics Approach on students' understanding of concepts in Grade VI at SD 200223 Sibulan-bulan. The study utilized a Post-Test-Only Control Group design and was of quasi-experimental nature. It involved an experimental group receiving the Realistic Mathematics Education Approach treatment and a control group not receiving such treatment. Both groups were selected randomly. The research findings indicate that students' understanding of mathematical concepts was better when using the Realistic Mathematics Approach compared to conventional learning methods. Based on the hypothesis testing results, it was found that t-count > t-table (2.23 > 1.98) and the Sig. value = 0.018, indicating that there is a positive effect of the Realistic Mathematics Education Approach (RME) on students' conceptual understanding. Based on the above findings, it is recommended that the learning process in schools use the Realistic Mathematics Education Approach, as it can improve students' conceptual understanding and mathematical abilities.


Enhancing Students' Mathematical Visual Skills through PHET-Based Graphing Quadratics Simulation at SMA Negeri 1 Sinunukan Mandailing Natal Regency

This study aims to analyze the impact of using PhET-based Graphing Quadratics simulations on students' mathematical visual skills, particularly in graphing quadratic equations. The research involved 80 tenth-grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Sinunukan, Mandailing Natal Regency, North Sumatera, Indonesia, divided into two groups: 40 students in the experimental group and 40 in the control group. A pretest-posttest control group design was employed to measure the improvement in students' mathematical visual skills. The experimental group used PhET simulations during their lessons, while the control group followed traditional teaching methods. Pretest results showed that both groups had similar levels of understanding before the intervention. However, after using the PhET-based simulation, the experimental group showed a significant improvement, with an average posttest score increase of 23.2 points, compared to just 7.4 points in the control group. Statistical analysis using independent t-tests revealed a p-value of 0.001, indicating a significant difference in mathematical visual skills improvement between the two groups. The experimental group demonstrated better comprehension of essential graph components, such as the vertex, axis of symmetry, and direction of the parabola. Furthermore, student feedback indicated that the use of PhET simulations enhanced their interest, motivation, and engagement with the material. The interactive nature of the simulations made abstract concepts more accessible and visually understandable, contributing to a deeper learning experience. Based on these findings, this study strongly recommends incorporating PhET-based simulations into mathematics curricula to improve students' visual and conceptual understanding of quadratic equations, as well as their overall mathematical skills. Future research may explore the long-term effects of such interventions and their applicability to other mathematical topics.


Revolutionizing Mathematics Education in the 5.0 Era: Exploring Future-Ready Media Requirements and Competencies for Aspiring Educators

In the 5.0 era, the rapid advancement of technology has transformed educational practices, especially in mathematics education. Aspiring educators must not only master mathematical concepts but also develop competencies in utilizing future-ready media that enhance teaching and learning effectiveness. This study explores the perceptions of prospective teachers regarding the media requirements necessary for revolutionizing mathematics education in the 5.0 era. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the research surveyed 50 students from the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education (PGMI) program at a university in Padangsidimpuan. Data were collected through a questionnaire, followed by data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the integration of advanced media in mathematics education is critical for creating an engaging and efficient learning environment. Teachers, as the main facilitators of the learning process, must be adept at selecting and employing media that aligns with students' needs, curriculum content, and the demands of modern technology. In the context of 21st-century education, future educators are required to be competent in using digital tools and innovative learning platforms to foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students. The study concludes that future-ready media play a vital role in enhancing the quality of mathematics education, and aspiring teachers must be equipped with the necessary skills and competencies to effectively integrate these media into their teaching practices. This will enable them to meet the challenges of educating students in a highly digitalized and interconnected world.


Analysis of Problem-Solving Ability of Mathematics Education Students in the Mathematical Modeling Course at UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan

The purpose of this research is to analyze the problem-solving abilities of Mathematics Education students in the Mathematical Modeling course. This study employs a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The subjects consist of 37 students from the 2023 cohort of the Tadris Mathematics Study Program at UIN Syahada Padangsidimpuan. The primary instrument used is a problem-solving ability test. Data analysis involves three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results reveal several key findings: (1) 19% of the students are able to understand the problems effectively, 38% have limited understanding, and 43% are unable to comprehend the problems; (2) 14% of the students can formulate problem-solving plans, 27% have limited capability, and 59% cannot develop problem-solving plans; (3) 14% of the students are capable of implementing their problem-solving plans, 24% have limited ability, and 62% are unable to execute their plans; and (4) 11% of the students are able to review their solutions, 19% have limited ability, and 70% are unable to review their solutions. These findings indicate that the majority of students face challenges in every stage of the problem-solving process, from understanding the problems to evaluating their solutions. Consequently, this research recommends the adoption of more interactive and contextual teaching strategies to enhance students' problem-solving abilities in the Mathematical Modeling course.


Upaya Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep Matematika dengan Model Pembelajaran Conceptual Understanding Procedures (Cups) Berbantuan E-Modul Materi Trigonometri di Kelas XI MIPA- 1 SMAN 1 Sinunukan

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa dengan diterapkannya model pembelajaran Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) berbantuan e-modul. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), dengan subjek penelitian 310 orang siswa kelas XI MIPA-1 SMAN 1 Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal. Objek penelitian ialah meneliti dapat atau tidaknya penerapan model pembelajaran CUPs berbantuan e-modul pada kelas XI MIPA-1 SMAN 1 Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal tahun ajaran 2022/2023 meningkatkan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa pada materi trigonometri. Penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 siklus, pada siklus I berdasarkan analisis pada data menunjukkan siswa yang memenuhi kriteria keberhasilan belajar ialah 22 siswa (62,810%) sedangkan 13 siswa (37,14%) belum memenuhi kriteria keberhasilan belajar. Siklus I menghasilkan nilai tengah kelas 78,66. Selanjutnya, di Siklus yang ke II terjadi peningkatan yakni total siswa mencapai kriteria keberhasilan belajar menjadi 36 siswa (88,107%) atau kategori tinggi, meskipun 4 siswa (11,49%) masih belum memenuhi kriteria keberhasilan belajar dan nilai tengah kelas 86,38. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Conceptual Understanding Procedures (CUPs) berbantuan e-modul pada materi trigonometri meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematika siswa kelas XI MIPA-1 SMAN 1 Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal tahun ajaran 2022/2023.

The advancement of the times is one of the primary hopes of people worldwide to achieve a better life. Today, we stand on the brink of the Society 5.0 era, a concept that integrates technological sophistication with human life to create a more prosperous society. However, along with this development, there are challenges that must be faced by Indonesian society, particularly regarding the preservation of local culture. Indonesia's rich and diverse local culture is gradually declining due to massive modernization, so efforts to preserve it are urgently needed. One relevant approach to address this issue is the implementation of Civic Virtue values among Indonesian youth. Civic Virtue, which encompasses social virtues and responsibility as citizens, can serve as a crucial foundation in encouraging youth to actively participate in cultural preservation efforts. This study aims to examine how Civic Virtue values are implemented among Indonesian youth in the effort to preserve local culture, particularly in the context of the evolving Society 5.0 era. This research uses a literature review method, analyzing various relevant sources on Civic Virtue and local cultural preservation. Through this study, it was found that youth play a strategic role in cultural preservation, especially since they are the generation that will shape the future. By understanding Civic Virtue, Indonesian youth can become agents of change capable of safeguarding local culture amidst the rapid pace of modernization. The implementation of Civic Virtue values among youth is not only crucial for cultural preservation but also for raising their awareness of social responsibility as part of the broader society. The findings indicate that local cultural preservation in the Society 5.0 era requires collaboration between technology and social virtues, with youth as the main actors. Therefore, strengthening Civic Virtue values should be a priority in the education and character development of youth so that they are more prepared to play a role in safeguarding the nation's cultural identity in an increasingly modern and digital era.


Beware of High Blood Sugar: A Community Service Article

Diabetes mellitus, a major Non-Communicable Disease (NCD), is a significant health issue both nationally and globally. The rising prevalence of diabetes is closely linked to modern lifestyles, particularly the consumption of high-sugar and low-fiber foods. This outreach program aims to enhance public understanding of the risks of high blood sugar, the complications that can arise, and preventive measures. The program was conducted face-to-face, involving 50 participants from various age groups at risk of developing diabetes. The activity began with a pretest to assess baseline knowledge, followed by a presentation, a Q&A session, and a posttest to evaluate participants' knowledge improvement. Analysis of pretest and posttest results using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge about the dangers of high blood sugar, with a p-value < 0.05. This indicates that the outreach program was effective in raising awareness about the importance of maintaining normal blood sugar levels. The event ran smoothly, and the active participation of the attendees reflected a high level of interest in the topic. In conclusion, this outreach program had a positive impact on increasing participants' knowledge about diabetes prevention through healthier lifestyle changes.


Analysis of the Influence of Interest and Talent on the Mathematics Learning Outcomes of Ninth-Grade Students at SMP Negeri 2 Sinunukan

The objective of this research is to analyze the influence of students' learning interest and talents on their mathematics learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 2 Sinunukan, Kecamatan Sinunukan, Kabupaten Mandailing Natal, Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. In education, learning interest and talent play a crucial role in determining students' academic success. This research used a quantitative approach with a survey method and correlation analysis technique to determine the extent to which these two factors affect students' learning outcomes. The population of this study consisted of all eighth-grade students, totaling 250, while the research sample was 153 students selected randomly. The research instruments included a mathematics achievement test to measure students' learning outcomes and a questionnaire to assess students' learning interest and talents. The collected data were analyzed using multiple correlation and regression techniques to test the relationship between the independent variables (learning interest and talent) and the dependent variable (mathematics learning outcomes). The results indicated a significant relationship between students' learning interest and talents and their mathematics learning outcomes. The multiple correlation analysis revealed a calculated t-value = 23.208, which is greater than the t-table value = 3.06 at a 5% significance level, indicating that both independent variables have a significant influence on learning outcomes. Additionally, the regression analysis resulted in the equation Y =-101.501 + 2.96x1 + 1.44x2, demonstrating that an increase in students' learning interest and talents will positively impact their mathematics learning outcomes. This study concludes that learning interest and talent are crucial factors that educators and schools must consider in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes. Therefore, teaching strategies that facilitate the development of students' interest and talents, such as engaging and interactive learning approaches, are essential. Furthermore, the development of guidance programs that help students recognize their talents and interests is also necessary to maximize their learning potential. The results of this study are expected to contribute to educators and policymakers in designing more effective learning strategies, particularly in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes through enhancing their interest and talents. This study recommends integrating interest and talent into the learning curriculum and calls for further research to identify other factors influencing students' learning outcomes.
