Katakunci tapak pelupusan mapan, kitar semula, Penilaian Kitar Hayat (LCA) Abstract The usage of technology in solid waste management is growing, particularly in developed countries such as Japan and United States. However, not all countries have the capacity to apply modern methods of solid waste disposal. This includes developing nation such as Malaysia. This matter has led to the existence of more open landfill (open dumping) to accommodate the increasing number of waste. A study conducted at Kayu Madang landfill Kota Kinabalu is to identify the components of sustainable landfill management and the contribution of these elements in the effort to achieve the sustainable landfill and the impact to environment. Therefore, this study will utilize the collected data through questionnaire to household and scavengers, interviews with key officials at City Hall of Kota

Much has been said in recent years about wаste management policy, and recently the management of wаste has found itself moving up the political agenda. The government is beginning to demonstrate some political leadership in its announcement of the Cabinet Office study into wаste strategy. The need for change is more pressing than ever, and we are now in a position where we have to ensure that words become deeds. This research primarily focuses on the issues of sustainability and wаste management in developing countries. For this study Malaysia is chosen as a country where waste management has become a major problem. Blessed with favourable natural resources, the Malaysia has traditionally been reliant on landfill sites as a low-cost wаste disposal option. However, for the sake of intergenerational equity, such end-of-pipe solutions to the Malaysia's ever increasing volumes of wаste are unsustainable in the long-term. The challenge of moving towards a more resource efficient society is multifaceted and must be tackled on several levels. The result from the life cycle assessment analysis shows that depending on landfill alone are not sustainable in long term. Landfill must be cooperating with other method of waste management such as recycling or landfill with energy recovery

... Laporan IPCC menyifatkan penyumbang terbesar aktiviti manusia terhadap peningkatan kesan rumah hijau berpunca daripada pembakaran bahan api fosil dan faktor guna tanah. Namun demikian, pengaruh tindakan (tingkah laku) manusia mampu mengurangkan kadar pelepasan gas-gas rumah hijau ke atmosfera antaranya melalui amalan kitar semula (Mohammad Tahir Mapa et al., 2017) aktiviti pelancongan secara lestari (Pan et al., 2018), Smart Farming dalam industri pertanian lestari (Walter et al., 2017) dan industri pembuatan simen (Benhelal et al., 2012). ...
